Alicia Parr shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Alicia, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Building our dream home and finally making progress.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the author of People Energy Principles: 36 Shifts to Reframe How You Think About People and Business. I wrote this while the CEO of Performentor, the fractional HR firm I founded in 2016. These principles stem from the differences I noticed in the leaders when I’d advise and coach them over a period of time. I asked myself, “How is this happening and what can we do to scale this positive outcome more broadly?” I realized it was reframes, so this launched the big idea for the book that combines the benefit of concisely explained reframes and artwork to inspire fresh ways to solve people challenges. We believe so much in the power of people energy in business that we even trademarked our mission statement to Unleash People EnergyⓇ,

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Becoming a parent in my late 30s shifted a lot for me. It was a deeply meaningful change. My calculus of what’s really truly important became a lot less self-centered!

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Getting shut out or excluded for thinking differently about things. Most people prefer things to be familiar and reject something new, and that includes new ways of saying old truths. The challenge is that saying old truths in new ways is a superpower– and a big part of my life purpose.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
Hard-to-measure things are often more important than easy-to-measure metrics when it comes to organizational health.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
Doing everything I can to share the big and practical ideas of “unleashing people energy” and the “trust algorithm”.
