Alison P’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

Alison P shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Alison, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Living towards the bottom of the Application mountains, this time of the year is beautiful. With the hustle and bustle of the oncoming season I’ve taken a lot of time to drive around, get outside and enjoy the beautiful colorful leaves. We have so many bright yellow, red and orange foliage that surrounds us making it my favorite time of the year.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey there! I’m Alison and I own Big Tasty Bakery. I started this business as a creative outlet and baking seemed like the perfect vehicle for this.I love learning about what flavors complement one another and how to turn it into something delicious. With 4 basic recipes I’ve created almost 100 different flavors of cookies, all equally scrumptious and we have over 50 flavors of cupcakes.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is Jesus Christ. His word tells me that I am loved, chosen, worthy, saved, accepted, strong and so much more. While the world tells me ‘ who can love you, no one wants you, you’re not good enough, you don’t fit in, you’re weak’. Learning how much we are loved by him has helped shaped me to see who I am in Him and I no longer believe the lies of this world.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The biggest fear to hold me back on a lot of projects is the fear of failing. Knowing the time, money, research, passion, put into a project then fail would be really hard.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say that family and my walk with Jesus were the things that matter the most.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
During the Christmas season I make a play on those tiny christmas tree cakes. We’ve turned them into our own version of cake trees and a version of cookies. These are our most requested items all year long.
