Amancio Walker shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Amancio, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
The one thing that has brought me joy outside of work is building my peace. Peace to me is not a destination. It’s not something that is in someone else or in another state or place. I learned that finding peace is a skill. A skill that I sharpened overtime and now it became muscle memory. Having internal peace really helped shaped the person who I am becoming.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Amancio Walker and I am a Actor, Model, & Media Personality. I first got my feet wet into acting in 2015 when I took acting classes at the age of 13. Since then, I have been casted in Theatre plays, short films, & a few commercials even to this day. Recently, I have starred in a short film titled “When You Forget The Punchline” and it became a hit overnight on YouTube. I have also starred in 2 commercials for Stop & Shop and Converse respectfully. Currently I am casted in a few other film projects that are set to be released soon in 2026, so you’ll definitely see more of me on your screens soon!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
To be quite honest, I was just someone who just wanted to follow my dreams to fullfill my inner child and to put a smile on my parents faces. I put alot of thought into the traditional route of what I could have been (Going to college, starting a family, getting married, etc) and I kind of put a little pressure on myself to achieve that because in the lenses of everyone around me that what their version of success was. It wasn’t until I turned 20 where I really started to tap into my spiritual side and do some inner work within myself. It took some time to get to a place where I’m in alignment with my true calling and even to this day, I am still doing the work to become the person I am destined to be.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
The one thing that I could say something to my younger self would be “It’ll get better soon. This pain is only temporary.” Growing up where I was dealing with abuse, bullying and trying to really find myself wasn’t easy. There were times where I wanted to do harmful things to others who hurt me in the past. But needless to say, from what I been through helped shaped me who I am today. I am stronger physically and emotionally and those setbacks didn’t hold me back from reaching my potential.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
The person that I admire for their character is Barack Obama who was the former US President of the United States. I remember when he was first elected in 2009 and back then, I thought him being the first black president was very revolutionary. I was inspired by his class, his way of thinking and genuinely wanting the good for people. He showed me a different side to the average black man that was outside my environment. I actually got into the debate team in middle school because of watching him in politics.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
I think the one thing that people will most misunderstand about my legacy is the path that im on will probably not be in alignment in their eyes. Most people view this world their way and anything that challenges their way of thinking would make them uncomfortable. How I chose to leave my legacy will be for those who share the same vision as me and for those that don’t will either eventually gravitate to it or find someone else that fits their way of thinking.
