Amy Fritz of Santa Barbara on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Amy Fritz shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Amy, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
My 17 year old son, Asher makes me laugh every day. He has a wicked funny sense of humor. And does these amazing voices. He recently graduated from high school a year early and I’m so proud of him.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Amy Fritz, I’m an Organizing Coach and own Thoughtful Organizing. I help my clients feel more organized in their business and lives. I have background in teaching so I don’t want to just organized my clients but I want to teach them how to get organized and stay organized.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
I think I felt most powerful playing sports as a kid: soccer, field hockey and diving. I had amazing coaches who really brought the best out of me. I took those experiences into all other areas of my life.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one thing to my younger self it would be don’t worry so much. And don’t worry about how things will turn out. They always seem to turn out okay and I know now that life is really more about the journey than the destination.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, the public version of me is the real me, through and through. I’ve often written about my struggles with bipolar, having cancer and losing babies. I’m an open book.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m near the ocean, it’s my happy place. As a kid, we always lived on a coast (the east or west coast) and now I’m lucky enough to live just a few miles away from the beach in Santa Barbara. I try to jump in the ocean all year round at least a few times a week.
