Alba S. Torremocha shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Alba, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My morning routine has changed dramatically since becoming more aware of how sound affects my nervous system! I used to start my day by scrolling through my phone and checking my calendar, and I could feel my body go on alert almost instantly. My mind would start racing before I’d even gotten out of bed.
Now I’m much more intentional. I wake up to a soundscape queued through Willowave’s alarm feature. Usually bird sounds, motivational affirmations and energy-filled frequencies. I repeat those affirmations while I’m getting ready. It’s subtle, but I’ve found that those early minutes set a baseline for how my brain filters the rest of the day. Once my system feels settled, I make a cup of coffee or tea and check in with how I actually feel before diving into work.
I’ve realized that when I regulate my nervous system before I regulate my calendar, my creativity, clarity, and decision-making are completely different. That shift is part of what inspired Willowave: helping people start their day with intention rather than reactivity.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Alba S. Torremocha, a music composer, entrepreneur, and the founder of Willowave: a neuroscience-driven sound platform that helps people shift their emotional and cognitive state throughout the day. My background is in classical composition and film scoring, where I spent years shaping emotion through sound for audiences. Eventually, I realized those same techniques could support people in real life, not just inside a cinema or concert hall.
That insight is what sparked Willowave. Most of us treat sound as background noise—playlists, podcasts, or whatever happens to be in the room. But sound reaches the brain faster than vision, and it has a direct impact on mood, focus, stress, and even the stories we tell ourselves internally. Willowave is designed to harness that. It blends healing frequencies, brainwave entrainment, nature ambiences, and subtle affirmations to create personalized soundscapes that people can use while they work, rest, or move through their day.
Beyond the app, Willowave has become an ecosystem: in-person sound immersions, corporate leadership sessions, and curated sonic environments for wellness spaces and public settings. The throughline in all of it is simple—helping people use sound intentionally, so they can influence their inner world in a supportive, grounded, science-rooted way.
My work sits at the intersection of art, neuroscience, and human transformation. What excites me most is creating experiences where sound becomes a practical tool for people to feel steadier, more focused, and more connected to themselves.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
This question is actually so perfect: Over the past few years I’ve been working with a mental health model called Internal Family Systems (IFS), which teaches that we’re not one single Self, but a constellation of parts, each with a different personality shaped by experiences, fears, and old patterns of protection. Different parts show up depending on the situation and some have carried us through difficult seasons, but eventually their strategies stop serving who we’re becoming.
The part of me I’m ready to release is the one that fears judgment or not being loved. That part worked hard for a long time: keeping me hyper-aware, pushing me to excel so I could feel safe. But as I’ve grown and found my purpose creating Willowave, I can feel that I need to let go of that protective part so I can fully show up for myself and my business.
I’m in a stage where purpose matters more than perception. I don’t need to mold myself to be accepted. If I stay true to the work I’m meant to do (using sound to help people shift their emotional worlds) then the right people will find their way to me.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Alright, going right into it! I’d say similarly to most people, a lot of my defining wounds came from the stories I absorbed as a kid that defined how I understood self worth, love, and my place in the world. For me, that looked like perfectionism and a constant pressure to prove myself. For years, I operated from a belief that I had to constantly prove myself. That if I wasn’t perfect, I wouldn’t be valued. That wound made me driven, but it also made me anxious and disconnected from my own needs.
My healing came from around understanding where those beliefs came from and understanding how they were deeply rooted in my subconscious, driving my actions and decisions. Once I realized that so many of my reactions weren’t “me,” but old stories running in the background, everything shifted. Through IFS, breath work, and daily affirmations, I started to rewrite those narratives. Slowly, consistently, and with a lot of compassion for the younger version of me who created them.
Affirmations became a practical tool for that rewiring. They help interrupt old patterns and rewire the brain, reminding it of what’s actually true. Over time, those small shifts added up, and they changed how I feel, how I create, and how I lead.
That’s a big part of why I built Willowave. I wanted to offer people a simple way to influence their inner world during the everyday moments when the subconscious is most open. If we can change the stories underneath our behavior, we can change the direction of our lives.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
Honestly? At this point my entire life revolves around Willowave. I joke that it’s my baby, except it’s the kind that grows me. I’m fully committed, signing the soul contract, showing up for it every day. It’s become way more than a company.
The belief driving it is that people deserve to understand how powerful sound really is. We spend all day being shaped by whatever noise is thrown at us—notifications, media, background chatter—and we don’t even notice how much it influences our mood, focus, and the stories we tell ourselves.
Willowave is my mission to flip that dynamic. I want people to have real tools to regulate their nervous systems and nourish the narratives they actually want to believe, rather than letting media outlets and random noise do it for them.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Oof. I’ve gone deep enough into the quantum mechanics rabbit hole to confidently say that everything is vibration. Not in the crystals-on-your-forehead kind of way (though no judgment), but in the actual physics sense. Every emotion, every thought, every experience we have is essentially a state of vibration. Our nervous system interprets those oscillations as meaning, mood, and reality itself.
Most people think “vibes” is just a trendy word or a woo-woo concept, but it’s genuinely how the universe is structured. When you zoom in far enough, even solid matter is mostly space and movement. That internal motion creates the frequencies that shape how we feel and how we respond to the world.
That’s part of what I ‘m trying to reframe with the concept of sound healing. It’s lived in a pseudo-science world for so long and sure, it has a mystical side. But the foundation is very much scientific. Brainwave entrainment, coherence… these things are measurable. They directly affect how our brain processes information and how our body regulates stress.
So I would say I’m bilingual in science and woo, and sound lives right in the middle.
