An Inspired Chat with Allie Gee of Brewerytown

We recently had the chance to connect with Allie Gee and have shared our conversation below.

Allie, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, a lot of little things outside of work have been bringing me joy. I’ve been taking dance classes, baking new recipes, working on puzzles, and treating myself to self-care spa days. I’ve also been loving quality time with friends, having more genuine connections, and my favorite activity is to go thrifting for fun finds. All of it has been refilling my cup in the best ways.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Allie, founder and lead planner of O.M.Gee Events, a queer- and woman-owned event-planning and coordination company based in Philadelphia.

Before founding O.M.Gee Events, I trained and worked as a professional dancer. I earned a BFA in Dance Performance, and spent years performing and teaching contemporary dance in New York City, Mexico City, and beyond.

What makes O.M.Gee Events special: we believe every celebration should reflect you: your identity, your story, your values. Whether you want a big wedding with all the bells and whistles or an intimate elopement, we lean into the details to help you find the traditions you want to create, the feel you’re going for, and the vibe that resonates with you.

My background in performance and choreography inspires how I approach planning: I treat an event like a performance. Each moment choreographed and each detail thoughtfully considered, so when the “show” happens, it genuinely feels magical and effortless.

These days, my work centers on helping people bring their dream celebrations to life. I’m so excited to continue building O.M.Gee Events and continue creating celebrations that honor what makes each story unique.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a kid, I thought I had to pick one thing: one path, one identity, one passion – and stick to it for life. Basically, I thought I needed to fit neatly into a single box. Growing up has unraveled that idea in the best way. I don’t believe we’re built for one-note living. We’re allowed to expand, shed skins, mix disciplines, start over, and surprise ourselves. We can grow, reinvent ourselves, and allow our identities and passions to evolve over time. I’ve learned that I’m allowed to be many things, sometimes all at once, and that there’s beauty in embracing every version of myself.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I’ve dealt with anxiety for as long as I can remember, long before I even understood what anxiety was. The fear of “what if” and the discomfort of not knowing used to take up so much space in my mind and often held me back from moving forward. But I’m learning that “what if” doesn’t have to be a threat; it can also be an invitation. “What if” can be beautiful, exciting, and inspiring. It can open doors instead of closing them.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! And with each passing year as I learn more about who I am, I share more of that with the world. The more I grow into myself, the more aligned my inner and outer selves become.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop waiting to take time off. I genuinely love my work, so I wouldn’t walk away from it, but I would make so much more space for myself. More time to travel, more time with friends, more time with family, more time simply living rather than postponing experiences for “later.”
