An Inspired Chat with Brandy “Lade Breez” Elam

We recently had the chance to connect with Brandy “Lade Breez” Elam and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandy “Lade Breez”, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, something that has been giving me joy is the fact of choice. Usually I would be adamant about being in place for everyone and everything. I’m a helper. Now, I am intentionally selective about how often I allow someone else’s burdens to impact my day. If I want to lend a hand, I do.. if I don’t want to and don’t have the energy, I don’t and I don’t force it!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Brandy “Lade Breez” Elam, an award winning Spoken Word Artist, a 5x Self Published Author, Event Host, Mentor and Life Coach. I founded Express Me Poetry Business Services and Events and Educated Blessyns Incorporated. Our moto is, Improving this world One Mind, One Heart and One Stage at a time!

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
The earliest moment or memory of feeling powerful was about 20 years ago; and that was learning that my boundaries aren’t and shouldn’t be negotiable. My choice my right. I have a right to decide what type of energy I entertain, and when. And it’s ok to let people go in love and accept the loss as a lesson and a blessing. Forgiveness doesn’t mean access. I would stretch myself thin attempting to be everywhere for everyone, and neglecting what I needed from me. My power came from balance and being consistent with what I needed to be successful in what I put my mind into achieving.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
A defining wound that has altered my entire life was, when I unexpectedly fell in a hotel lobby in February 2024. I was peaking career wise, I had just released my 4th book, I was training hundreds of people bicoastal, and I was preparing to head home to plan a book tour. I took a contract in LA and as I walked into the lobby to check in to my hotel, there was something slippery on the floor. Whatever it was took my feet from under me and shortly afterwards, I was hospitalized with rib contusions herniated and bulging discs in my lower back. I landed so hard, the doctors said I had whiplash. Since then I’ve had to deal with constant pain and discomfort, talks of surgery on my back, 3/4 appointments a week and being terrified to leave the safety of my home. Gradually, I’ve started attempting to get back into the swing of being comfortable being outside again and in front of people without worrying about how my physical appearance has altered. I had to relearn how to be comfortable outside of the safety of my home. My new normal is meds, appointments and learning how to take in my new normal. My healing process is ongoing, but I’m hopeful and rolling with the punches but still trying to mentor. My defining moment was completing and releasing the final book of my three part series called The Journeys Series. I released Journeys of A Long Walk and Journeys traveled before I fell. I lost confidence in myself and my love for writing and sharing it with others. In November 2025, I will release Journeys to Love Letters. It signified that even though I feel physically broken, my mind is still ready to rumble and ready to tell my story.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The project that I am committed to no matter how long it takes is, opening a community center that allows kids to have access to peer counseling, tutoring and a safe space to learn how important it is to develop their emotional intelligence before they turn 18; and how useful it is to continue to develop self control afterwards and on.
The project I just released completed was my Book series that is now in Barnes and Noble as well as on Amazon!

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Could I give everything my best? Even when I’m not being praised? Absolutely! I always give 110%. One of my main rules for my students is, “Regardless, If five people, fifty-five people or 5 Million people attend, you always show up like the 5 Million is there. You show up for you, the people will follow!
