Brashell Santos shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Brashell , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’m being called to take up space with my truth — out loud and unapologetically. For a long time, I was afraid to fully share my story and my voice. I thought I had to have it all figured out or wait for the “perfect moment.”
But now, I feel deeply called to create Mi Propia Voz — a project that’s raw, real, and rooted in my own transformation. It’s not about having all the answers, it’s about finally using my voice to connect, to heal, and to build a space where other women feel safe doing the same.
I used to hide behind roles, scripts, and “what’s expected.” Now I want to show up exactly as I am — messy, growing, full of heart — and invite others to do the same.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Brashell Santos — I’m a Dominican actress, content creator, and host based in Miami. I’ve spent over a decade in front of cameras, microphones, and live audiences… but today, my most meaningful role is creating spaces where other women can be heard.
I recently launched Mi Propia Voz, a podcast and digital platform where I interview women who share their personal stories of growth, resilience, and transformation. The goal is to build a supportive, honest, and empowering community — one voice at a time.
What makes this project special is the authenticity of each guest and the intention behind every conversation. I’m not the one telling my story — I hold space for others to tell theirs, so they can inspire, connect, and remind us all that we’re not alone in what we go through.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Becoming a mother changed everything. When I had my daughter Valentina, the way I saw the world shifted completely — suddenly, everything felt more fragile, more precious, and more urgent.
It made me more intentional about the kind of energy I allow into my life, the people I surround myself with, and how I use my voice. I stopped chasing perfection and started chasing presence — being real, being grounded, and embracing the messy beauty of life.
Valentina didn’t just make me softer, she made me braver. And that bravery is what fuels the work I do now, especially in building Mi Propia Voz. I want to be part of a world where women — including my daughter someday — feel seen, supported, and strong enough to speak up and be heard.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes — there was a time when I fell into a deep depression. I lost my spark, stopped dreaming, and felt like I had nothing left to give.
I battled imposter syndrome and truly believed I’d stay stuck forever.
But with time, I found my way back to myself. That experience taught me the importance of being gentle with our process — and it’s a big reason why I created Mi Propia Voz.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They’d probably say that truth and emotional connection matter most to me. I care deeply about real conversations — the kind that leave you thinking, feeling, or healing.
I’m that friend who’s always asking “but how do you really feel?” — not to be dramatic, but because I truly believe vulnerability is strength. That’s the heart behind this new project I’m building — creating a space where people feel safe to be real.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
Right now, I’m pouring most of my energy into raising my daughter as a full-time, stay-at-home mom — and I know it’s not something that will “pay off” in a traditional or immediate sense.
But I truly believe that raising a child with love, presence, and strong values is one of the most meaningful things I’ll ever do. It’s a long game — the kind of legacy that takes years to bloom.
Being able to be present in her early years is a privilege I don’t take for granted. And I know that everything I’m sowing now — in silence, in patience, in daily routines — is building a future I’ll be proud of, even if no one sees it right away.
