Brooke Robertson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Brooke, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Breakfast, coffee, and scripture on the front porch
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Brooke Robertson. I’m an artist based out of southeast Louisiana. I have been doing music for about 8.5 years now. I’ve had the privilege to be able to travel and share my testimony of forgiveness and redemption.
I also work with a ministry called H2O Ministries in Louisiana. We house girls who have aged out of foster care.
I am currently working on new music and excited to share it!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
Both of my parents instilled in me at a young age the importance of working hard. To do all things with excellence!
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
I was sexually abused at 10 years old. I kept it to myself for 15 years until God opened the doors to music. I would’ve never shared my story much less even thought I needed to forgive until music.
I didn’t realize until then that I had unhealed wounds. Once I truly forgave, I found my freedom, and have been able to share this hope with people all over the world.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Being real. I love to go deep with conversations quick.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m in nature somewhere talking to Jesus.
