We’re looking forward to introducing you to Carmen Yataco-Grayson. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Carmen, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
My day begins with a morning mantra which sets the tone for my day and then followed by a cup of joe. I organize my to do list I research new pitches or campaigns for existing clients. I write award submissions or speaking opportunities for clients. Then I log in to social media ans see what is being said about my existing clients or events. I track trending topics an viral entertainment stories. I update my urnalist list outlets. Draft press releases (e.g., “Actor Joins New Series” or “Film Added to Festival Lineup Log all secured coverage.
Send recaps to my clients. I update tracking spreadsheets or project trackers at the end of my day
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My Name is Carmen Yataco Grayson, Publicist of San Francisco. I am a story steller, Brand Amplifier. “I don’t just tell stories—I make sure the right people are listening.” I am based out of LA and the Bay Area and am Working for Elegant Pr alongside Barbara Sanchez CEO of Elegant PR. I have a sharp instinct for storytelling and a reputation for building media buzz that lasts. With experience across entertainment, talent, events, and brand publicity,
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was bay area girl who had come from peruvian immigrants who was born in San Francisco and had to work thru all the barriers of a 1st generation Latina graduate from Long Beach State University with a degree in communications and Political Science and not know what to do next. I was good at promotions and wanted more with that. Always had a spark for the entertainment world
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
“Don’t be afraid to take risks, even if you don’t have it all figured out. You’ll mess up sometimes, but that’s part of the journey. Keep learning, and don’t be afraid to lean on the people who care about you. It’s okay not to have all the answers yet.”You’re doing better than you think, and the mistakes you make will help you grow in ways you can’t even imagine yet.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I’d protect at all cost is La Pachamama. The relationship to nature is incredibly sacred to me It’s about respecting and living in harmony with the earth.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
one of the key things I understand deeply is the intricate relationship between perception and reality. I also understand that building and maintaining strong, authentic relationships is a must and are built on trust and mutual respect.
