We’re looking forward to introducing you to Caroline Concordia. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Caroline, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Who are you learning from right now?
I’m currently learning from Jess Clement, a local Hamilton/Dundas actor and acting studio owner. For the past three years, Jess has taught me so much about both the craft and the business of acting, as well as how to effectively coach actors of all ages. She has more on-set experience than any other mentor or teacher I’ve encountered in my journey, and her approach has helped me feel freer in my own process while also building the confidence of the students I work with. I’m so happy for her successes, and they serve as a real motivator to keep on climbing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m an actor from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. My passion for the arts began at the Theatre Aquarius Summer School Program when I was just seven years old and continued to grow at McMaster University, where I earned an Honours B.A. in Theatre and Film.
I share my love for acting and the entertainment industry as an instructor at HamOnt Acting Studio, where I like to inspire and mentor the next generation of performers. I also work as a virtual reader and coach on the platform WeAudition.
I’ve appeared in a variety of commercials, television shows, and films. Off set, I have a big appetite and a love for foods of all kinds!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I think what breaks bonds between people is distance, whether it’s physical or emotional. Bonds are strengthened through connection, and connection is deeply important to me. I believe real bonding happens when people share a mutual goal, passion, or sense of understanding.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That resilience is built a little bit at a time. It’s okay for things not to work out, suffering is part of being human. The hardships I’ve faced have made me more compassionate toward others and their struggles, and I feel incredibly lucky to have a network of supportive family and friends.
The successes feel even sweeter after the turbulence. Suffering taught me that tough times don’t last, and that I can make it through to the other side. These moments of difficulty make the importance of being present even clearer and in that presence, I feel truly alive.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The project I’m most committed to, no matter how long it takes, is my own development as a person and an artist. I truly believe that anyone who wants to be an actor or artist can do it. There’s a lot of fear and self doubt out there, but I’m inspired to keep building my credits and honing my craft. As a person, I also want to continue growing and evolving not be stuck in one way of thinking. We are never too old to chase our creative dreams.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope people remember my empathy and the ways I tried to help others. I hope I made people feel seen. I would also love for them to remember how I made them laugh.
