An Inspired Chat with CC Consalvo of Santa Monica

We recently had the chance to connect with CC Consalvo and have shared our conversation below.

CC, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Not long ago I had the honor of saving a baby bird from the jaws of a cat. I learned more about peace and being in the moment from a golf ball sized being than in any book, movie or person. A bird’s song opens flowers and watching her bathe in circadian rhythms each morning filled my heart with utter love. I felt connected to everything. Nature is where I loose myself in pure joy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
It seems we are over informed and undernourished, which is why I created Well Restored. Hello, I’m CC Consalvo and I’m a Food Mindset Coach creating food programs based upon nutrition, trauma, stress and lifestyle.

After 20 years as a holistic chef in Los Angeles, specializing in meal plans for autoimmune (AIP),  SIBO, GERD, sugar addiction and sugar detox, I began my coaching practice. I was fortunate to work with Lady Gaga, Sir Elton John, Emily and Zooey Deschanel among others.

My philosophy combines life coaching with a focus on stressors, habits, self talk and of course, food as the foundation to fuel our lives. I assist people to have an authentic, balanced and most importantly, pleasurable relationship with food. I advise my clients in all aspects of mealtime, from creating personal meal programs, introducing personal chefs and hosting private mindful eating retreats on a beautiful island.

We all know that our mindset around food has the power to save our health. With this in mind, we’ve developed for release in early 2026, The Well Restored Mindset. A membership platform that includes a unique series, Hello Kitchen have we Met? inspiring people how to plan, shop, prep and stock their kitchens for every day cooking success.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I believe bonds are broken when we allow fear to over shadow our deep inner knowing. We literally swallow our thoughts around loss, abuse and misunderstandings and then it shows up in our body as dis-ease. What restores these broken bonds and our health, is acknowledging who a person is without the title, father, son, brother, mother, daughter etc. and how your soul has evolved as a result of the severed connection.

It’s a process, not of right or wrong but of learning and accepting who you are. Restoration begins with being kind to yourself and kindness translates into compassion for others. Food and cooking takes us out of our heads and into our hearts and brings us together. Anytime there’s a meal prep task at hand, there’s a memory that’s sure to be made.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Growing up, I became the parent at a very early age. When my mother contracted HIV, after years of drug use I began cooking for her. It was instinctual and a desperate attempt to save her. She did live a few years more than expected. So perhaps the meals bought us more time. That experience showed me the power food has to save our health.

What I realized then an now, is that out of that chaos came the gift of my life’s work. I will always be grateful to my mother for giving me the awareness, empathy and compassion to now assist others to heal. If that’s a super power, I accept.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
That’s easy, food and farmers. As if my life depends on it, because it does. No matter how technology and AI calls us to stray, we are still human beings. We are part of nature, never separate from it. All the nutrients we require to function are found in nature’s abundant gifts and these gifts are chemical free.

We are not meant to consume genetically engineered and chemically sprayed fruit and vegetables. We are meant to grow food and enjoy it in season. Which is why I support people to get into the kitchen. The most powerful medicine is cooking with real ingredients and farmer’s markets are the source and the inspiration.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
What I have been practicing over the years, is to react less and respond more. I would stop holding my breath in challenging situations. What I’ve learned is that our breath is the key to quieting the mind and moving through life with grace. Over the next ten years, I would choose to continue to breathe more deeply and trust this present moment has all I’ll ever need to be ok. It’s a work in progress.
