We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dani Cutler. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Dani, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Thank you for having me! This answer is easy: Integrity. You can be a person of high intelligence, which means nothing if you don’t have moral or ethical principles. Energy levels do not matter because they shift from day to day (at times hour by hour!) Integrity is a constant, and is the most important thing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Dani Cutler and I’m a digital marketer, radio personality, podcaster and event promoter. Connecting and promoting community and supporting local has always been important to me. I’ve had my business, Dani Cutler Content Creation LLC since 2012. I specialize in creating content, and developing marketing and promotional strategies for small businesses, artists, and musicians. I worked for an independent radio station in Phoenix AZ for 16 years, on the air as well as co-program manager. Currently I have a podcast called “Scene Mom Says” which focuses on music news, and showcasing independent musicians.
My biggest focus in all my work is community-building. I provide digital marketing and promotions consulting with that focus in mind. With my background in podcasting and radio I also understand the importance of various forms of communication to connect with your audience. I have experience in voice work, recording, and audio editing to create quality content.
Two years ago my husband and I moved from Arizona to Massachusetts. It’s been an interesting journey transitioning my business. Essentially you’re starting over again, but with years of experience.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Without question my foster-parents. My childhood and teen years were not the best, and my foster-parents were the first ones to show me my potential and what I was capable of. To this day they continue to support me, and I hope I have passed that support down to my own children so they discover all they are capable of being in this world.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me strength. It showed me that if I didn’t change how I look at a bad situation, I have no hope of ever getting out of it. Success has many different levels. Focusing too much on what others’ ideas of success contributed to some of that suffering. It was up to me to decide what I wanted for my life and for my business, and once I redirected that focus, everything made sense.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I love this question. The answer is yes. I’m goofy, silly, passionate, loyal, supportive, and want to help everyone be better and successful. What you see is what you get!
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
I learned a long time ago that regret can lead to depression and makes me feel out of touch with my present. There are beautiful moments and opportunities happening every single day. If you miss one, I guarantee you another will come along. If something doesn’t go the way you planned, you can’t go back and change it. You have to make your peace with it, and decide how to move forward.
If you keep looking back with regret, you’re going to miss even more of the opportunities happening right now. Everything is an experience to learn from. If I do find myself regretting something (I’m only human it happens,) I focus on how I can have a better outcome should I be in a similar situation again.
We don’t have to rely on other people to make things happen. We have the power to do it ourselves.
