We recently had the chance to connect with Desmond Ross and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Desmond , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
My kids bring me joy each and every day. I enjoy watching them play together, seeing their personalities develop and making memories with them. I am blessed to be their father.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Desmond Ross and the name of my company is Make A Change Today. We sell apparel and children’s books. My brand, MACT mission is to inspire self-love, embrace individuality, and foster positive change. What makes it special is that it’s rooted in my own journey and experiences, and every project I work on carries a piece of that story. Right now, I am promoting my second book Floating Courage, working on new apparel designs and gearing up for a local book festival. Additionally. I plan to collaborate with communities and continuing to build something that inspires, uplifts, and leaves a lasting impact.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
I’ll always be grateful for my parents who taught me the most about work. Their hard work and quiet strength gave me and my brother everything we needed, without ever showing the weight they carried. They instilled the drive in me to push forward no matter what. They didn’t have much at all growing up in Mississippi so it’s a blessing to see all they have accomplished and provided for others.
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I miss my grandparents. I wish they were still alive to experience my accomplishments in life most importantly seeing me as a father to their great grandkids.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire my parents for their character. Their humility, resilience, and sacrifices showed me that true strength doesn’t come from power, but from love and integrity.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I’m most at peace with my family when we’re present with each other, away from the noise of the world, just enjoying each other’s company.
