Dianna Robicheau shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Dianna, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Sitting on the beach, with a good book, on a perfect weather day. Being by the ocean always brings me so much peace and clarity, and I find I get my best creative ideas when I truly “clock out.” My favorite beach in the world – in Rye, New Hampshire, has minimal cell phone service, and I love that this forces you to just be present!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Dianna, copywriter for creatives and coaches and founder of Rise Copy Co. I specialize in developing messaging strategies and writing connection-based website copy that helps my clients attract and convert more dream clients.
I started my business out of a desire to have more freedom and flexibility to travel – namely, back home to New Hampshire, where I’m from. The idea for the business came to me while at the beach, and I opted to name my business after the sunrise over the East Coast. I also chose the name Rise Copy Co. because I wholeheartedly believe that great copy is one of the biggest things – if not THE thing – that can help your business ‘rise’ to a new level.
I love helping creative entrepreneurs and coaches identify what makes their business so special and unique, and writing copy that highlights their uniqueness, thereby connecting them more deeply with their ideal audience.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I’m still working on this one – but I was raised in a pretty traditional household from a professional standpoint. We were taught to go to school, get your degree, and then begin your career (with a 401k, healthcare, etc., etc.!). Entrepreneurship wasn’t super prevalent in my family, so even though I believe deep down I have the bug, I never imagined myself *actually* being a business owner when I grew up. So now, even though I am one, I have to work at keeping out of the ‘job’ mindset and thinking like a true entrepreneur.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I wish I could tell my younger self to take more risks, and to take them earlier. I’ve always been a look before you leap person, and it took me a lonnnng time to make the leap into full-time entrepreneurship. I was building my business while working full-time for several years, because I wanted to wait until I felt 100% secure that I could sustain myself financially with my business alone. In hindsight, I wish I could tell my younger self to just go for it from the jump, because it’s going to work out!
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
That kindness matters more than anything else. It’s so important to me to work and live from a place of empathy and inclusivity. Those things are non-negotiables for me.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
After so many years of doing what I felt like I was ‘supposed to do,’ I pinch myself daily that I actually finally feel like I’m doing what I was born to do. Being a good copywriter means being a good writer, of course, (and trust me, I still can’t believe that I get to write for a living! Second-grade Dianna would be very proud), but more importantly, my work makes my clients feel seen. When I share a draft of website copy with a client, and they tell me that it makes them feel so much more confident in themselves and their business, that is the very best feeling in the world. Making my clients feel seen and empowered is the best part of my job, and I know that this is my special skill on this planet.
