An Inspired Chat with Dominic Adonis

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dominic Adonis. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Dominic, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me, currently looks like: waking up at 6 AM, going for a morning walk (completing around 10,000 steps), grabbing a bagel on the walk back home. Once I am back home, I typically would make my bed, take a shower, answer some emails/ texts, all while eating half the bagel now (and saving the rest for lunch).

Around noon, if I do not have anything on my plans for the day, then I would go explore and spend majority of the day in the city adventuring (and yes.. eating the other half of the bagel).

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi Everyone,

I am Dominic Adonis! I am an international runway model and master cosmetologist.

I have been in numerous fashion weeks; background acted in many different shows and movies that can be streamed on different streaming services, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and more.

I am licensed to practice cosmetology in North Carolina and New Jersey.

Currently, I am keeping my schedule pretty light with work and projects. I am focusing more on mental and physical health, while I prep and train my body for New York Fashion Week which will be approaching over the next few months!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Growing up, naturally I had many interests!

I was interested in things such as culinary arts, fashion merchandising and design, psychology, cosmetology, and many more.

My friends at the time would joke, because of my height and would say things such as “you are either going to go into sports.. or modeling”- and sports definitely was not about to happen, so I decided to pursue modeling, and have been glad about that decision ever since.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I am still the same person as before, with the same interest; except, now those interests have grown and developed as much as I have! I am still passionate about cosmetology, the arts, studying the mind, and of course fashion; however, the one thing I would say I do miss that no one knew about would be designing clothes and storing them in my archives.

When I was younger, I would design like shirts and tops, but I wouldn’t actually wear the pieces- it was more of a “just seeing if I can” kind of craft. Maybe when I am older, I will look more into fashion design.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me or my social media presence is definitely a *part of the real “me”.

I always joke that there is the Dominic Adonis you see on stage, the Dominic Adonis you meet at after parties, and the Dominic Adonis you might find wandering in the streets. It is very important to note- these are VERY different people.

Dominic Adonis while in working mode is very extroverted, sparkly, long hair flowing in the wind, and all of that.

The Dominic Adonis you find in the streets is.. well- very incognito! I may be in a mask, ponytail, sweats, sunglasses and earphones!

As I grow older, I am definitely more introverted and make more time for my loved ones- so I prefer to remain a bit more muted without a lot of attention; or too much time put into getting ready (since I am in full glam most days for work)

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I would hope those that knew me would tell the story of my confidence!

I often mention in both modeling and in cosmetology that confidence is key.

Confidence in rocking a new hairstyle that maybe you were uncertain about.

Confidence in doing the style and overall having fun with it.

Confidence is taking your pictures and walking across the stage.

Overall, I think any story that is told about me might have different versions, because I am different versions of myself depending on who I am with and who they need me to be at that moment; but overall, I was always confident!
