We recently had the chance to connect with Elizabeth Colazo and have shared our conversation below.
Elizabeth, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
What brings me the most joy right now outside of my work is the connection with nature, my early walks, listening to the birds and enjoying the green, take me to a state of active meditation, calming my nervous system. I couldn’t live without the healing power of nature.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Elizabeth Colazo, a fine artist dedicated to art for 33 years. I was born in Jesús María, Córdoba, Argentina and began painting at age 17 in a drawing and painting Atelier.
At the present moment I reside in Miami, Florida, United States. Rooting myself in a new country has led to the deepening of my artistic expression, becoming a medium through which I can channel internal experiences. My greatest inspirations are the moments that I keep in my memories, the essence of the people and the innate human emotions.
I am especially interested in exploring the world of sensations, inviting the viewer to travel to the vast world of everyday life where inspiration arises from life itself through what is simple, but at the same time profound. I am focused on reflecting one’s own inner growth throughout life, connecting the spiritual with my artistic expression, as well as sowing a seed of search interior in each viewer.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
My way of seeing the world changed from the age of 22 when I was looking to feel good about myself, I started therapy, my therapist introduced me to metaphysical readings, self-help, I began to incorporate meditation, yoga and that was the beginning of many paths that led me to my essence, being more conscious every day. At the same time I began studies of different healing therapies, such as reiki, facilitator of akashic records, pendulum and Bach Flower therapist, among many other things that I incorporated into my knowledge about the soul and energies. That was marking my internal path and my way of seeing the world.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
There are several events I could say have marked my life, but I think the most significant has been emigrating, arriving in a country with a thousand dreams, only for them to fade away a little. My family and I invested in a business; within a year, we lost everything and had to start over. Since then, it’s been an intense journey of adapting to new realities.
Joining a new and very different system from where I came from, being far from my family, and working in positions that have nothing to do with my field have been very difficult for me.
But without a doubt, everything that happened, the discomfort I experienced, gradually led me to reaffirm what I wanted to do. Finding myself lost in a country led me to find myself again, to give birth to my gift, and my artistic expression became my healing process. Along with my therapies, they all come together or integrate within me, and from there, my art emerges.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I am committed to my internal work, which involves fading away more and more the ego and the masks we put on to fit into this world.
then it wouldn’t be authentic to me if I wanted to show another Elizabeth to society,
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I am certainly doing what I was born to do, and I am sure that every day I will find more ways to express my soul on this plane and leave my mark.
