We’re looking forward to introducing you to Emmalyn P. Check out our conversation below.
Emmalyn, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
For me, it’s integrity. I think of it as character… the way you carry yourself when no one’s looking. Intelligence and energy are valuable, but integrity is what keeps them aligned with purpose. It guides how I show up in relationships, choosing ones that are mutually respectful and meaningful. It also shapes how I create and how I travel, seeking experiences that feel authentic, meaningful, and lasting rather than just surface-level.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Emmalyn, the voice behind My Life and My Style, a midlife travel and lifestyle blog and brand that celebrates slow, elegant journeys and meaningful living. After years of working as a registered nurse, I shifted into content creation to inspire others in midlife to embrace adventure, style, and intentional travel. My platform helps readers craft unforgettable experiences, whether through curated itineraries, reflections on modern midlife, or essentials that bring ease and beauty to travel.
What makes My Life and My Style unique is its focus on midlife as a season of renewed adventure, not slowing down. I highlight authentic, soulful escapes, timeless style, and the joy of creating memories that last. Currently, I’m refreshing my website to reflect this vision more fully, while continuing to share stories, inspiration, and resources for mindful travelers who want journeys that are personal.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a curious child. Around age six, I discovered my older sisters’ storybooks, and that’s when my love for adventure was born. I would lose myself in those pages, drifting into different worlds and welcoming every new journey. Later, schoolwork and responsibilities quieted that sense of wonder, but deep down, I’ve always carried it with me. In many ways, the work I do now, through travel and storytelling, feels like returning to that girl who loved to get lost in stories.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be: your path doesn’t need to look like everyone else’s, adventure will find you again. As a girl, I thought adventure only lived in storybooks. Later, life became full of responsibility and I felt that sense of wonder fade. But I would remind my younger self that the spark was never gone, it was simply waiting for the right season. Today, through travel, storytelling, and embracing midlife as a time of renewal, I’ve found that adventure again in ways that are even richer than I could have imagined..
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest misconceptions in the travel and content space is that travel has to be about quantity, packing in as many places or highlights as possible to make it meaningful. While I love capturing beauty and sharing inspiration, I’ve learned that the most rewarding moments come from quality: slowing down, staying present, and experiencing one place deeply instead of rushing through many. The most meaningful journeys happen when you slow down and choose experiences that are authentic and personal. What I share through My Life and My Style is a reminder that travel isn’t a race or a performance; it’s about creating memories that feel real, lasting, and true to who you are.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace in nature: watching a sunset, listening to the water, or being surrounded by quiet beauty. Those moments remind me to slow down, be present, and they bring a calm that no busy schedule can offer. I also find peace in prayer, meditation, being with my husband, and spending time with my family. For me, peace comes from slowing down, being grateful, and recognizing God’s presence in both the ordinary and extraordinary moments.
