An Inspired Chat with Gillian Gossow

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Gillian Gossow. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Gillian , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Bad Girls Yoga recently hit over 1k groups for 2026! This is a huge milestone for us and something that was on my list of goals for a couple years now. I am so proud to have brought our classes to so many people all over the US.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Gillian, the founder of Bad Girls Yoga! I started this company after teaching yoga in New York, then moved to Charleston and built the brand from there.

Bad Girls Yoga is a fun, social, feel good approach to yoga. We travel to you. Airbnb, beach house, rooftop, backyard, wherever your group is staying. Our classes blend yoga, Pilates, stretching, meditation, aromatherapy, and music that matches the vibe of the group. And yes, we end with a Rosé toast together.
A lot of our sessions are for bachelorette trips and private groups who want something memorable to do together. The goal is simple. Move your body. Laugh. Connect. Enjoy the moment. Nothing stiff or serious. Just a great experience that feels good.
At the heart of it all, Bad Girls Yoga is about joy, connection, and shared experiences. We make the moment special and you just show up.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Studying abroad in Paris was one of the most defining experiences of my life. Living there forced me out of my comfort zone, new language, new culture, new pace, and made me realize how small my world had been up to that point. I met people from everywhere, each with completely different values, routines, and definitions of success. It opened my eyes to how much beauty and meaning there is in contrast..how differently people live, think, and still connect over simple things like food, music, and conversation.

That time in Paris taught me to stay curious, to never assume my way is the only way, and to always seek out experiences that stretch me. It’s a mindset that shaped not only how I see the world, but also how I built Bad Girls Yoga..inclusive, open, and rooted in connection across backgrounds and energy!

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me what strength actually feels like. Not the kind you post about, but the kind that shows up quietly when everything falls apart and you have no choice but to rebuild yourself. The hard times are where you strip down to who you really are. They force growth, perspective, and humility. That’s where I learned resilience, patience, and self respect.

Success is beautiful, but it doesn’t teach you much beyond gratitude and celebration. The hard seasons are what teach you endurance, grace, and grit. They’re what make the good times worth it. When things are good, that’s when you exhale and enjoy what you’ve earned. When things are hard, that’s when you build the muscle to carry it all.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say I care deeply about connection and presence. I love my people, I love animals, and I love seeing the world. Travel gives me perspective and a sense of freedom that keeps me grounded. Animals remind me what unconditional love looks like. Time with friends and family keeps me centered in what actually matters.

I try to live with gratitude and stay fully in the moment, whether I’m halfway across the world or just sitting outside with a glass of wine and my boyfriend. The older I get, the more I realize that joy isn’t found in chasing what’s next, it’s found in appreciating what’s right in front of you.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I’d stop waiting to be happy. I’d stop putting off joy for some future version of life that’s “more together” or “more successful.” I’d stop caring about things that don’t actually matter…the noise, the comparisons, the overthinking.

If I knew I had ten years left, I’d spend them traveling everywhere I could, soaking up new places, new people, new food. I’d make every moment with the people I love count. I’d live like time was the most valuable thing I had…. because it is.
