We’re looking forward to introducing you to Gloria Lay. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Gloria, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
As they say life happens right? The craziness of life sometimes gets me off track, just the worries and struggles that everyday life brings!!! But then or However and that’s a big however there is “Art therapy” I call it! This is a place where I can put on music and get in front of a canvas and lose myself and create a piece of art that tells a story of where I was in that thought or at that moment in time! It could just be the colors I chose or even how I chose to manipulate the paint or even trying a new technique. That is where I find myself again! I feel like even the colors I choose tell the story of my art!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
As an artist, my creative journey is fueled by passion and a desire to express emotions through various techniques on this paint journey.
Each piece I create tells a unique story, reflecting my thoughts on the canvas. I explore color, texture, and form to evoke feelings in my audience, inviting them to connect with my art on a personal level. Art is not just a profession for me; it is a means of communication that transcends language, enabling me to share my perspective and inspire others. I’m currently working on different techniques and working with different textures I’ve always said “my art is my therapy”!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds between people can break due to misunderstandings, lack of communication, or unresolved conflicts. Trust can falter when individuals feel neglected or betrayed, leading to distance and isolation. However, restoring these connections often requires open dialogue, empathy, and a willingness to forgive. They encourage honest conversations, promote understanding, and help people find common ground, ultimately reinforcing the importance of relationships and ensuring that bonds can heal and grow stronger over time.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Fear has been a consistent companion in my life, often holding me back from pursuing opportunities that could lead to personal growth and happiness. The fear of failure loomed large, whispering doubts in my mind whenever I considered stepping outside my comfort zone. This fear often led me to shy away from new experiences, I worried about what others would think and how I would cope if things didn’t go as planned. Maybe they wouldn’t like my art! Additionally, the fear of rejection kept me from alot, causing me to miss out on friendships and relationships that could have enriched my life. Over time, I realized that while fear can be protective, it can also be paralyzing. Acknowledging this, I began to challenge my fears, understanding that they are often unfounded and that taking risks could lead to valuable lessons and newfound confidence.
Fear is a liar!!!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The question “Is the public version of you the real you?” invites deep reflection on identity and self-presentation. Many people curate their online images or personas to fit social expectations or gain approval, which can sometimes overshadow their authentic selves. In social situations, individuals might adjust their behavior to align with what they believe others want to see, creating a distinct separation between their public persona and their true identity. This gap can lead to feelings of inconsistency and even isolation, as the real emotions and struggles are hidden behind a façade. Ultimately, while public personas are shaped by societal norms and personal choices, they often do not fully encompass the complexity of individual experiences. The journey towards authenticity involves embracing vulnerabilities and allowing the private self to interact more freely with the world, fostering genuine connections that go beyond superficial encounters. Balancing both aspects is key to understanding and expressing one’s true self.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I am gone, I hope people tell a story of kindness and love. I want them to remember me as someone who helped others and always had a smile. I hope they say I listened when they needed to talk and cheered them on in hard times. I want my family and friends to feel happy because of the memories we shared. Most of all, I wish to be remembered as a person who cared deeply and made a positive difference in their lives.
