We recently had the chance to connect with Heather Davis and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have you stood up for someone when it cost you something?
Absolutely, when it comes to my kids. Standing up for my children has lost me friends, respect, positions…because I refuse to allow my children to be subjected to people or systems that don’t align with their highest good.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Heather Davis, and I am a spiritual healer, mentor, and creator of Lotus Moon magazine. I’m also the author of the Sparkle & Shine oracle deck. Over the past 13 years, I’ve studied and practiced modalities such as life coaching, Reiki, chakra work, and EFT. Alongside this, I’ve embraced my psychic and empathic gifts, weaving them into both my healing practice and the magazine.
What makes Lotus Moon unique is its heart: it’s not just a magazine, but a guide for self-discovery and soul alignment. Each issue is built around a central theme, blending wisdom from my years of healing with practical tools readers can use to nurture their own growth. Inside, you’ll find everything from rituals, essential oils, and chakra education to cooking with intention, moon phases, zodiac readings, and Feng Shui.
For example, my August issue explored Lughnasadh, celebrating the first harvest and its lessons of gratitude. This September, our theme is Light & Shadow, honoring the Autumn Equinox and the balance between the two—helping readers embrace all parts of themselves on their spiritual journey.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I remember my mom telling me how fearless I was as a child. At 3 and 4 years old, I would lead the kids around in my neighborhood—kids who were much older than me. At 4, my mom and I moved to Hawaii to escape the chaos and violence of my father and stepmother, whose shadows loomed heavily over my early years. Things unfortunately didn’t get much better for me in Hawaii. I was picked on and beaten up for the next four years because of my race and blonde hair. At 8, I escaped to live with my father and stepmother, only for the abuse to worsen and continue until I was 15.
For the last 30 years, I have wrestled with what the world taught me to be versus reclaiming the fearless leader I was born as. My spiritual journey has been my compass, guiding me to heal these past wounds and fulfill my divine purpose. Lotus Moon gives me the ability to share these tools helping others to help themselves on their own spiritual journey of healing and enlightenment.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
My biggest fear is being seen for who I truly am. When you come from years upon years of abuse, your safety lies in being invisible. Presenting to the world a reflection of what others want to see in you, not who you truly are. Our children can be our biggest mirrors, reflecting back to us aspects of ourselves we don’t like and try to keep hidden. Those hidden, or shadow aspects, are our triggers. Parents are often triggered by their children because of the same aspects they were taught to hide when they were children. Children of abusers learn to repress those aspects of themselves to keep from triggering their parents and experiencing the abuse. As adults, part of the healing process is learning to accept who we really are and take off the mask we put up to keep ourselves safe. I am an absolute people pleaser and still struggle with this daily. My children, having to stand up for them, has forced me to overcome this fear at times, but I still struggle with it. I often want to hide and avoid people, but am forced to “people” because of my children. They are a huge blessing for me in my healing journey.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
I rely on my intuition. I don’t want to get into detail because some things are controversial, but there have been things throughout my life I didn’t feel good about doing. From when I was in high school until now. Things that others were doing, things that society was pushing, things that were being pushing on me and my family, but I didn’t “feel” right about it and refused. I was criticized. I was told I was wrong. I was told I was a bad mother. I was told I was in danger. Now more information is coming to light about these things that makes me realize I was right. I kept myself and my family safe, but NOT doing what people were pushing. I trusted my intuition. I trusted my gut, and it was the right thing to do.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What will you regret not doing?
Spending my time with my kids. My kids are my world and taking them for granted, not using the time that I have with them, kills me. As they get older I realize just how short of an amount of time 18 years is. There is so much tragedy and loss in the world, I want to soak up as much time with them as I can.
