We recently had the chance to connect with Heather Plant and have shared our conversation below.

Heather, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
For me, it’s being outside in nature that makes time disappear in the best possible way. I can be in one of my garden beds pulling a few weeds, wandering the field to check on the herbs, or simply standing barefoot in the grass, and suddenly an hour has passed without me even noticing. Nature has this way of slowing everything down while somehow waking me up at the same time.

It’s where I reconnect with myself. The noise drops, my nervous system settles, and I can actually hear my own thoughts again. The plants, the wind, the birds, there’s something about the simplicity of it all that pulls me back into my body and reminds me who I am beneath the to-do lists, responsibilities, and expectations. As someone who tends to live in “go-mode” and always has a dozen projects in motion, being outside is the one place where I naturally soften. It’s where my creativity flows, I can truly focus, and I feel most like myself. Nature is my reset button, my sanctuary, and truly the place where I lose track of time and find myself every time.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Heather Plant. I’m a clinical herbalist, holistic stress coach, and the founder of Magical Plants- a wellness brand rooted in nature, nervous system support, and a touch of everyday magic. My work blends the science of plant medicine with intuitive practices, helping women reduce stress and anxiety, reconnect with themselves, and feel at home in their bodies again. What makes Magical Plants special is the way it bridges the practical with the magical. Yes, I teach the foundations of herbalism and holistic health, but I also weave in spiritual practices, seasonal living, and intuitive rituals that help women create meaningful, sustainable shifts- not just temporary fixes. I like to say my work sits at the intersection of herbs, healing, and the mystical side of wellness.

I offer a range of resources, from 1:1 services and custom herbal formulations to online programs and digital tools. One of my signature offerings is The Calming Toolkit, a 9-week program that teaches women how to manage stress holistically by reconnecting with their nervous system, their intuition, and the power of plants Right now, I’m working on expanding both my online and in–person offerings by bringing back wellness intensives, building out more intuitive and magical classes, and even adding education for new online business owners who want to create soul-led brands. My goal is always the same: to make wellness feel accessible, empowering, and deeply supportive. At the heart of everything I do is a simple belief- when women feel well, grounded, and connected, they can change their lives in ways that ripple outward, and that’s the kind of magic I live for.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One of the moments that shaped how I see the world happened when I was very young. I used to wander alone in the forest behind my home, curiously exploring the wild world around me. There was one day I will never forget. I had wandered into a small circle of birch and hemlock trees, and the sun was pouring straight down into the center like a spotlight. Outside that circle, everything looked grey and muted, but where I was standing, the light was so warm and bright.

I remember stepping right into that beam of sunlight and feeling something I didn’t have words for at the time- this deep sense of power, safety, and belonging. It was as if the forest wrapped around me and said, “You’re home.” In that moment, I felt connected to everything, like the world made sense and I was exactly where I was meant to be.

That memory has traveled with me my whole life. It taught me early on that nature isn’t just beautiful, it’s a source of strength, guidance, and grounding. It showed me that we all have this innate ability to connect with something bigger than ourselves, and that when we tap into it, we feel aligned, empowered, and whole. It’s the same sense of connection I now help women rediscover in my work, guiding them back to the natural world so they can remember their own inner power, feel supported instead of alone, and reconnect with the truth that we’re all part of something bigger than ourselves.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I think I stopped hiding my pain when I finally understood that it wasn’t a weakness, as it was part of my initiation. I’ve lived through a lot of trauma and pain in my life, emotionally and physically, and for years, I carried those experiences quietly, trying to be strong and not trying to be a burden. But over time, I started to realize that the very things I tried to hide were the exact things that shaped my gifts, my intuition, and my way of working with people.

The pain I endured didn’t just change me, it sharpened me. It helped me see the world differently, sense what others are feeling before they say a word, and understand the layers beneath someone’s stress or symptoms. It’s what allowed me to step into the deeper aspects of healing and magic, because I wasn’t just studying concepts, I was navigating them in real time, in real life.

The shift happened when I stopped seeing my past as something to “get through” and started recognizing it as the source of the medicine I carry. It gave me the ability to guide women to be empowered and have the knowledge to avoid and/or manage the struggles I once had to endure alone. My experiences allow me to hold space differently, teach differently, and support women in ways that feel grounded, real, and deeply intuitive. Using my pain as power didn’t come from ignoring it; it came from alchemizing it into something that can actually make a difference in someone else’s life, making the pain itself truly worth it.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the wellness and spiritual industry is that healing has to look perfect. There’s this myth that if you just meditate enough, drink the right tea, or follow the “right” routine, everything will magically fall into place. Real healing is messy, it’s nonlinear, and sometimes it requires support, community, and practices that don’t fit the picture-perfect wellness aesthetic at all.

Another lie is that self-care has to be time-consuming, expensive, or elaborate. So many people are conditioned to believe they need a full morning routine, a spotless home, a perfect schedule, or a dozen rituals to “qualify” as someone who’s taking care of themselves. In reality, the most effective self-care is simple, sustainable, and woven into your actual life- not the idealized version of it.

And maybe the biggest myth of all is that practitioners are supposed to have it all together. There’s a pressure in the holistic world to be the walking embodiment of calm, balance, and enlightenment at all times. That’s simply not real. Practitioners are human. Many of us arrived in this field because we struggled, not because we were perfect. Our lived experience is part of our medicine. I think the industry forgets that vulnerability, honesty, and authenticity are far more healing than pretending. The work becomes so much more powerful when we stop trying to look like the “perfect healer” and instead focus on guiding people back to what’s real, sustainable, and truly supportive.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’m absolutely doing what I was born to do, not what I was told to do. Growing up, there was always this unspoken expectation that after college I’d step into some traditional, high-paying career, the kind of job that looks impressive on paper but has nothing to do with joy or purpose. Happiness wasn’t part of the equation, but even as a kid, I always had this quiet knowing inside me that my life was supposed to be something different. I didn’t know what that was, just that it wasn’t going to be the standard path everyone pushed toward.

My intuition has guided me since my earliest memories, even when I couldn’t explain it. And it kept nudging me every time I faced another health challenge, especially after college, when my symptoms intensified, and not a single medical professional could give me answers. I was always forced to figure it out myself, which led me deeper into understanding how the body works, how nature heals, and how many powerful forms of natural medicine exist beyond the modern medical system we’re taught to rely on.

When I finally found plant medicine, it was like everything clicked. I remember the exact moment it happened, standing in my kitchen, brewing my very first herbal infusion just for myself, feeling this spark light up in my chest. It was excitement, recognition, and belonging all at once. And then it hit me: my name is literally Heather Plant. After years of searching for my “calling,” I realized my path had been right there the whole time, patiently waiting for me to notice it. From that moment on, there was no question. I wasn’t meant for the life I was told to pursue; I was born for this one.
