An Inspired Chat with Ifeyinwa Eze of New York

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Ifeyinwa Eze. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Ifeyinwa, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’m being called to teach and educate more. As I’m building my relationship with God and walking in my path, I’ve realized that just last year God brought me through schooling and acquiring my certifications; despite being in the hair industry for 9+ years; so that I will be backed up when it comes to teaching my community. When I used to teach solo classes, I’ve always felt imposter syndrome or had stage fright; even feeling like I’m not worthy enough to teach people. I’ve learned that it’s not true and it’s my mind messing with me. Thus, I’ve turned a new leaf and now I’m walking in my God given path to educate.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! My name is Ifeyinwa Eze. (ee-fay-yin-wah eh-zeh) I’m originally from the Bronx, NY and I’m currently 26 years old. I’m a beauty entrepreneur and educator. Within the beauty industry, I’m a holistic health practitioner, licensed cosmetologist, trichologist, nutrition coach, and more with a specialization in natural hair care and seamless sew ins. I also help stylists scale their business. I’ve been a hairstylist for over 9 years, but I decided to shift my focus on more healthy hair care. My business prides itself in providing quality hair care and education. My businesses are ISHair and ISExtensions, where I also sell luxury hair extensions.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One of the moments that changed my perspective was when someone told me, “your success is tied to someone’s breakthrough”. This changed my mindset on life and made me realize that I have a specific job to do. I can’t give up on myself because future generations are depending on me. I have to be the beacon of change and live out my God given gift to its totality.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
A fear I had was worrying about what people thought about me. I would try to portray a certain image that wasn’t actually me. I would also hide certain aspects about myself and water down my wants and desires to fit someone’s likes. There was also times where I would let someone’s opinions of me depict who I am and what I should do with my life.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
A project that I’m forever committed to is bettering myself. I’ll keep doing what it takes to become God’s faithful servant, a great mom, sister, friend, daughter, and teacher. Even though I’ll run into many bumps down the road, I know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop procrastinating and wasting time. I would also stop getting in my head about certain things.
