Jack Harvey shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Jack , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve been rewatching the Harry Potter Franchise and I really found myself falling in love with the story all over again.
I haven’t read the books since I was really young but I will revisit those soon as well.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
HELLO WORLD, My name is Jack Harvey and I’m a recording artist and songwriter; When I was in elementary school I became very influenced by the media and music I was experiencing in my life and I wanted to be apart of it. So I started writing songs and discovering I had a talent and such a love for making music. Now at that time I don’t think I was very good but over the years I spent time developing and focusing on being a better writer with lyrics and melodies. I am currently working on a project that should release sometime next year and really shake things up so I’m super excited for that.
Recently I’ve been becoming more interested with fashion and my personal style so I have been working closely with a streetwear brand named Uknown Society. I’ve done some modeling and video work with the brand and it’s been really fun and I really like the clothes.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Holding back feelings or something bothering you either in a relationship or friendship. I feel like society has normalized dropping people from their lives without trying to work things out. Now I do understand a lot of things are really not worth stressing and arguing over I just believe sometimes some people in our lives are worth keeping around, and sometimes to fix it is a simple conversation and a real understanding of each other.
And making memories together.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I was really afraid of being judged negatively or not perceived as “cool” ,for so long I lived in that and I was always pretty shy. But one day I really opened up and realized that it was holding me back from really enjoying my life, and ever since I started having confidence in myself I’ve never felt more free.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Well I hope they would know that my friends themselves, my family, my faith in God and music really matter to me because that’s what I live for truly.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I feel like at this point there is no denying I was meant to create music, it’s just what I’m really passionate about and I feel like I couldn’t stop even if I wanted to. Since I was young I would sometimes get these doubts and kinda give up, but I would always find myself writing again. It feels like I have to get ideas out or they’ll just haunt me.
And I just feel so much happier after writing something or recording.
