An Inspired Chat with Jack Vu of San Jose

We recently had the chance to connect with Jack Vu and have shared our conversation below.

Jack, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me on tour starts with arriving at the venue in the morning by tour bus. Once there, I get set up and ready for the day. I usually spend part of the day editing video content from previous tour stops, while also capturing behind-the-scenes footage of the band and getting B-roll of the venue. As the day progresses, I shoot both photos and videos of the concert itself. Once the show wraps, I pack everything up, load it into the tour bus, and we head off to the next city to do it all over again. It’s a fast-paced and creative environment, and every day brings something new.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a content creator and visual storyteller who specializes in capturing the energy and emotion of live music. Right now, I’m on tour with a band named The Rose, documenting everything from behind-the-scenes moments to high-impact concert footage. My work blends photography, videography, and editing to create a full visual experience that brings fans closer to the music and the people behind it. What makes my role unique is that I’m constantly on the move—every day is a new city, a new crowd, and a new story to tell. I’m passionate about creating content that feels authentic and immersive, and right now I’m also working on building a visual archive that captures the spirit of this tour from start to finish. It’s a wild ride, and I love every second of it.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
Honestly, my peers and the internet have taught me the most about work. Watching other creatives push boundaries, share their process, and talk openly about their challenges has been incredibly inspiring and educational. A lot of what I’ve learned has come from collaborating with others, being part of creative communities, and just diving into online resources—whether that’s tutorials, forums, or social media. It’s a constant cycle of learning, adapting, and evolving. The internet opened up a world where I could study the work ethic and creativity of people I admire, and my peers keep me motivated and accountable every day.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have definitely been moments where I didn’t think I could make it—times when the pressure, uncertainty, or burnout made me question everything. But I’ve learned that if you really want something, you have to keep pushing for it, even when it feels impossible. Every setback has taught me something, and every time I pushed through, I came out stronger and more focused. It’s not always easy, but that persistence has gotten me to where I am today.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I think my closest friends would say that what really matters to me is being kind to everyone. No matter the setting—on tour, in creative work, or just in everyday life—I try to treat people with respect and empathy. I believe energy is contagious, and leading with kindness creates better connections, better work, and a better environment for everyone around me.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think people would really miss seeing my concert photos and videos—the raw energy, emotion, and atmosphere I try to capture at every show. But they’d still be able to follow along through my travel content. I’d never stop creating completely, just shift the focus. Whether it’s live music or life on the road, I’ll always be telling stories through my lens.
