An Inspired Chat with Jared Campbell of Texas Hil Country

Jared Campbell shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Jared, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions is that hiring a personal chef is a luxury reserved only for the ultra-wealthy. In reality, personal chefs offer incredible value—especially when you consider the time saved, the quality of ingredients, and the customization of each meal to your preferences and dietary needs. It’s not just about fancy dinners; it’s about creating memorable experiences, reducing stress, and bringing restaurant-level dining into the comfort of your home. Many clients are surprised to learn that having a personal chef can be more cost-effective than frequent dining out, especially for families or those with specific dietary goals.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jared Campbell, the founder of Experience a Chef, where I specialize in creating high-end, customized culinary experiences that go far beyond the plate. From elegant wine supper clubs to lakeside bachelorette dinners, my goal is to turn meals into unforgettable moments.

What sets my work apart is the attention to detail and the ability to tailor each menu to the client’s vision—whether it’s a French-themed celebration or a bold fusion of global flavors. I’m currently preparing for the World Food Championships, where I’ll be showcasing my creativity on a competitive stage. I’m also exploring a new frontier: curating culinary experiences for exotic hunting trips, where the adventure continues from the field to the table.

For me, food is storytelling—and every dish is a chance to connect, inspire, and surprise.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Disconnection often comes from the pace of life—busy schedules, digital distractions, and the lack of meaningful moments shared together. But nothing restores connection quite like gathering around a table for a good meal. Food has a way of slowing us down, inviting conversation, and reminding us of what matters. Whether it’s a quiet dinner or a lively celebration, sharing a meal creates space for laughter, storytelling, and reconnection.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Never stop learning. Every challenge, every kitchen, every client is a chance to grow—not just as a chef, but as a person. Stay curious, stay humble, and trust that each experience is shaping you into someone capable of creating something truly extraordinary.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies is: “I don’t think I’m ready.” So many talented chefs hold themselves back, waiting for the perfect moment, the perfect skillset, or the perfect opportunity. But the truth is, growth comes from stepping into the unknown. You learn by doing, by serving real clients, and by trusting your creativity. The industry often undervalues confidence and overemphasizes perfection—but readiness is built through experience, not hesitation.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
People might think my legacy is just about cooking—but that’s only the crust of the situation. What I’ve built goes far beyond the plate. It’s about crafting experiences that linger in memory, creating moments that connect people, and empowering other chefs to find their voice and build something meaningful. The food is the medium, but the message is connection, creativity, and transformation.
