We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jennifer Ryan. Check out our conversation below.
Jennifer, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Jen of White Wave Restorations, a heart-centered collection of services intended for deep relaxation and renewal. In a world of chaos and noise, finding space for quiet rest is crucial. My intention is to provide safe space and stillness for all beings to experience decompression and opening with sound immersion and craniosacral therapy.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
Reflecting upon my relationship with my Grandfather truly beams awareness to how much he influenced my earnest work ethic. My work as care for the community.
Grandpop was a welder and woodworker. He had laser precision which lended itself well to both. He would often help neighbors, coworkers and friends by fixing metal or woodwork. From what I remember and understand, he would insist it was his gift to them.
He once said something that left an imprint on me, “whatever you do in life, you’ve got to be the best”. The language doesn’t totally connect with me but I took it my own way. You have to choose the highest good, the best for all beings, as best as you know how in every moment, but especially with your work. Providing the highest caliber experience I know how to give while also genuinely supporting and connecting with the community is essential for me to feel solid in what I do.
I remember him saying, in this mystically knowing way, “you’re going to be our little executive”. Again, it didn’t connect for me until recently. What’s happened is that I am the executive of my own life, reality and livelihood. And my goodness, I’m so glad he was right
When did you last change your mind about something important?
I would refer to the following example as following a change of heart, rather than a change of mind. Recently I have chosen to release what no longer feels in alignment for me professionally. With that, comes an opening into the great unknown of what is meant to come next. The decision to release various elements of my work was a huge one. It ended in me relinquishing an entire community because I no longer want to teach yoga; the potential for a connection at a celebrated retreat center, but the feeling received from them was corporate and sterile; and, many different group offerings simultaneously ending with entering into the colder months.
I am no stranger to foolishly (said with affection) abandoning a path that no longer serves in following the heart to the aligned one. Leaving nursing at the end of the 2021 to walk with the unfolding of this service journey is a prime example. It is always exciting and very human, the feeling of emptiness and openness. Only fruit can fill where the compost is.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
Intention is the first and most integral element to facilitation.
When you live in service and give from the heart without attachment to outcome, you may trust that all of your needs will be met.
Dis-ease and disharmony begins in the spirit and lands last in the physical body.
Mysticism comes first, science last.
Being in nature is never time wasted.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
Spirit, heart, laughter and integrity (and gongs ;D)
