Jennifer Tabrizi shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Jennifer, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m constantly chasing growth! All my friends tell me they can’t imagine that I’ll ever stop learning. And honestly? Neither can I! I never get complacent and I always want to evolve myself. If I stopped, I’d most likely feel dull and bored.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’ve been in the health industry for over 10 years, with a background in yoga, meditation, strength training, and nutrition. I’m currently studying Traditional Chinese Medicine, diving deep into acupuncture and herbal medicine. I run an online coaching business called Healing With Jennifer, where I work with women around the world who have been diagnosed with Crohn’s or colitis. We focus on strength training, nutrition, and stress management.
This work is deeply meaningful to me, back in 2012, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s, and my case was serious enough that I almost had to have my colon removed. After turning my own health around, I now live a happy, full life. My mission is to teach other women how they too can live a normal, vibrant life despite an autoimmune condition
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My father! He immigrated to our country at 18 with absolutely nothing and built a life for himself from the ground up. Growing up, I watched him work tirelessly. He ran his own businesses, and even when faced with challenges, he always picked himself up and kept going.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Imposture syndrome! Feeling I don’t know enough in the health in industry space. I have that inner critic saying “who are you to talk about this?!” or even “who are you to help people?”. Over the last few years I have got better with this. Not only am I committed to constantly learning, I’m also walking through the trenches with this stuff every single day. I practice what I preach, I make mistakes, I learn from those mistakes. I keep growing.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
That food is medicine. Doctors disagree on this and will say there’s not enough research to support that diet has anything to do with autoimmune disease. This always fascinates me. I know if I eat fast food every day, I am NOT going to feel good. And I know I’m going to full much different from eating a healthy diet. Although there is no “proof” that diet has anything to do with autoimmune disease, I highly disagree,
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Faith should be the number one thing you focus on. And the second? Prioritizing your health. Far too often I see people pushing off their health until things get bad. They are handed a diagnosis, and by this point, it is way more challenging to turn things around. I’m not saying that it can’t be done, but I truly believe people need to stop waiting for things to get this bad. Without good health you have nothing. Putting your health at the front of the line trickles into ALL other areas of your life. Focusing on your health should be a form of disease prevention, and I believe more people need to wake up to this.
