An Inspired Chat with Jessica Green of Bainbridge Island, WA

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jessica Green. Check out our conversation below.

Jessica, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I was on a call with my group program clients. They’re participating in a 28-day decluttering challenge. Three weeks in and there’s some really amazing transformation going on! Not just the reduced clutter, but also how they see themselves. One client shared that she’s gaining clarity on how she wants to live her life going through this process. Another client shared that by decluttering her dining area, she was able to have an impromptu card game with her daughter which never would have happened if there wasn’t space. Seeing these ‘aha’ moments in the women I serve makes me feel so proud that I’ve been able to hold this space for this transformation.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jessica Green, the founder of Root & Flow Living, where I help people create homes that support both the health they want and the life they want. My work brings together three core pillars — decluttering, simple feng shui principles, and non-toxic living — to transform the home into a space that feels calming, energizing, and aligned with who you’re becoming.
I come to this work with a unique mix of experience: nearly two decades in sustainable and healthy building design, plus years as an integrative health coach. Over time I realized something powerful — people were trying to improve their health, energy, or habits, but their environment wasn’t supporting those changes. Their home was full of clutter, old identities, or hidden stressors that kept them stuck.
Root & Flow Living was born from that realization. Today I guide midlife women, homeowners, and entrepreneurs through simple, transformative home shifts that make daily life easier, healthier, and more intentional. Whether I’m helping someone declutter a space, choose healthier materials, or create better flow in their home, my goal is always the same:
Help people thrive where they live — so their home becomes a catalyst for the next chapter of their life.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose, and is now ready to be released, is the version of myself that needed to have all the answers. For years, especially in my health coaching work, I felt responsible for getting things “right,” for being the expert, for holding everything together through knowledge and precision.

But that chapter is complete. It taught me so much, and I’m deeply grateful for it.

Now, I’m releasing that old identity so I can step into something more expansive: a way of being that is rooted in curiosity, possibility, and trust. Instead of needing to be right, I’m embracing not knowing. Instead of forcing clarity, I’m letting myself explore. And instead of holding onto a career path simply because it once defined me, I’m allowing myself to evolve toward the work that feels aligned today, helping people transform their homes and their lives through Root & Flow Living.

Letting go of that old chapter isn’t just about leaving health coaching; it’s about releasing the pressure to prove myself through it. It’s about making room for a new way of creating, serving, and supporting women. One that feels lighter, more intuitive, and more deeply connected to who I am now.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely—there was a time when I almost gave up. But what I realized is that I wasn’t actually ready to quit; I was exhausted from trying to force myself into a version of my business that no longer fit.

For a while, I thought the answer was to walk away from health coaching entirely. But instead of giving up, I stepped back and got curious. I asked myself why the work no longer felt energizing and what parts of it I genuinely loved. That shift in perspective changed everything.

I discovered that my passion wasn’t gone—it had simply evolved. What I really loved was helping women create environments that supported their health, their habits, and their future selves. Once I allowed myself to follow that thread, Root & Flow Living was born.

So instead of a story about giving up, it became a story about moving forward with purpose, clarity, and intention. Letting go of what no longer aligned made space for the work that feels deeply meaningful to me today.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
One of the deepest truths in my life — one I rarely say out loud because it’s so foundational — is that our environment shapes who we become. The spaces we live in either nourish us or deplete us. They can support our health, our energy, and our future… or hold us in old versions of ourselves.

Another truth I live by is that you don’t need to force transformation — you need to create the conditions for it. This belief is woven into everything I do through Root & Flow Living. When you clear clutter, create flow, and remove hidden stressors in your home, you make it easier for your body to heal, your mind to calm, and your life to align with your intentions.

And at the heart of it all is this:
You deserve a home that reflects who you’re becoming, not who you’ve been.
I rarely articulate these truths because they’re so embedded in how I see the world. They guide every conversation I have with clients, every space I walk into, and every offering I create. They’re the backbone of my brand — and my life.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
So much of the work I’m doing today is planting seeds that won’t fully bloom for 7–10 years. Root & Flow Living itself is a long-term vision — I’m building a brand, a methodology, and a body of work that will continue to evolve, deepen, and create impact far beyond the short-term.

Every article I write, every workshop I lead, every home I help transform… these are long-arc investments. They’re shaping a movement toward healthier, simpler, more intentional living — something that grows slowly, one household at a time.

I’m also building systems, communities, and relationships that I know will compound over time. The Root & Flow Circle, my educational content, the partnerships I’m cultivating in the sustainability and wellness spaces — these aren’t quick wins. They’re the foundation of a future where Root & Flow becomes a trusted resource for anyone who wants a home that supports their physical health and their personal growth.

And on a personal level, I’m investing in my own evolution — creating space for creativity, curiosity, and sustainable leadership — so that the version of me 7–10 years from now is someone who can hold this mission with clarity and ease.

So while the payoff isn’t immediate, the work I’m doing today is building something with longevity, meaning, and legacy.
