We recently had the chance to connect with Jessica Morris and have shared our conversation below.
Jessica , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I chase success because I was once a doubter in myself. I went through a period of depression, and pushing forward became my way of proving to myself that I can rise above it. Sometimes I worry that if I stop striving, I might slip back into that place. But what I’ve learned is that my drive isn’t just about avoiding the past….it’s about building a future that reflects strength, growth, and resilience.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jessica Morris, founder of JESSE EFFECT. I provide professional waxing, barbering, special effects makeup, beauty makeup, skincare, Rose bouquet, character rental, kids face paint alongside our own line of products. What makes us unique is how we combine bold creativity with confidence-boosting care. JESSE EFFECT was born from my journey through self-doubt and personal challenges, and I’m now focused on growing it into a full company that empowers people to feel strong and confident in their own skin.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I wasn’t capable of achieving big things or being truly confident in myself. I doubted my abilities and often thought I wasn’t ‘enough.’ Over time, through personal challenges, growth, and taking action toward my goals, I’ve realized that I am capable, resilient, and deserving of success. That old belief no longer defines me. I now trust myself to create the life and brand I want.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
What helped me as a child was imagining the bigger version of myself…..the me who could love, protect, and make the younger me proud. In my early teens, it was hard, but I realized that just by having the faith to stick around and keep going, the younger me was already strong. Today, I’ve made myself proud in many ways, and I’m still working toward the other goals I’ve set for myself
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire my dad for his character, not his power. He’s resilient, kind, and always leads by example. Even in difficult situations, he stays true to his values and treats people with respect. His consistency and integrity have taught me the importance of strength through character rather than through status or authority.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. Life has already put me in positions where no one believed in me… not even those I thought would. I had to push forward, give my best, and do what needed to be done regardless. The recognition or praise often came afterward, but by then, it didn’t matter as much because I had already proven to myself what I was capable of
