An Inspired Chat with Joel Gibson Jr. of Silverdale, WA

We recently had the chance to connect with Joel Gibson Jr. and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Joel, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Who are you learning from right now?
I’ve been following Eric Church for about 20 years, and have always respected and looked up to his work ethic and authenticity. Now being in the music business, I continue to learn from him and how he writes songs, grows his brand, connects with his fans, and entertains on-stage.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Joel Gibson Jr, and I’m a Country Rock Singer-Songwriter from Silverdale, WA. In the past 8 years, we have played over 1000 shows and released 3 studio albums of original music. We’ve opened for acts such as Zach Top, Trace Adkins, Joe Nichols, Chris Janson and continue to build our brand organically through one of a kind live performances , hard work and an authentic connection to our fans.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My Wife, Brittney saw my musical potential and booked my first live show. I had been playing for years in front of friends & family, but it was her that pushed me to get out there and share it with the world. She continues to be my #1 supporter and the backbone of our business, all while balancing that with our homelife.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I think that feeling comes natural in the music business when you don’t feel like you’re getting where you want to be fast enough or feel like you’re not getting certain opportunities! There’s a lot of regional music politics and cliques that I steer clear of and take any negativity and doubt and use it as motivation to grow, reach further and grow our brand.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes. Authenticity is paramount to me and it has been a key factor in growing our brand. People that meet us and get to know us feel connected even more to the performance. I have no interest in being a star, it’s all about the music and the fans that support it.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel the most at peace in warm weather near the water or riding my Harley. Both bring me peace and relaxation that clams my mind & feeds my soul.
