An Inspired Chat with Judell Rome of Neighborhood

We recently had the chance to connect with Judell Rome and have shared our conversation below.

Judell, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity stands out to me the most because I spend much time on working on things behind the scenes that helps strengthen my character.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I consider myself an entrepreneur and sole proprietor that pursues a life of channeling innate gifts to help inspire and send positivity to the world. Music production & contemporary art allows me to freely express my viewpoints that spark deeper introspection of topics and experiences in my life. As a jack of all trades, I tend to stray away from a singularity way of creating artistic concepts. In result, sound design along with visual illustration help narrate messages to my audience. Misfortune and drawbacks seem to frequently present itself throughout my journey. Nevertheless, I’ve maintained a humble approach to hurdle my shortcomings using spirituality, meditation and perseverance. Mystical undertones along with radical thought is a chief narrative that guides my inspirations. I’m currently working on catalogs of music singles & extended plays (short albums), accompanied with paint, videography and digital designs that aids for a final aesthetic. This combination fuses together for a sort of “cinematic art gallery” along with a diversity of underlined compositions.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My oldest sister has deeply influenced my growth and development as a person. Her courage, strength and compassion never cease to inspire. I believe family is most important when it comes to building a firm foundation. Not only stability, but a safe space to retreat is most precious when life can present the greatest of challenges.

What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
While striving to pursue my personal goals, I’ve been met with countless obstacles. Theres been times when the only person to hear my deepest plea was my own echoes from screams of frustration. After hitting rock bottom and realizing there was no other place to go but forward, I’ve learned that taking accountability, discernment and “faith of a mustard seed” was my key to getting back up again.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe there are benevolent forces beyond physicality that supports those who seek to strive for goodness in life. Too often do I see the opposite. Every waking moment is nothing short of a miracle.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Reciprocity is a concept and practice I know too well. Giving to others without expecting anything in back is divine and sincere. Understanding that one can evenly return the same blessings is not of my concern, but knowledge of its benefits can create expansion and serve both parties in an abundant manner.
