An Inspired Chat with Kareem “Reemo Meerak” Tyson of HARLEM, NYC

We recently had the chance to connect with Kareem “Reemo Meerak” Tyson and have shared our conversation below.

Kareem “Reemo Meerak”, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Currently, proud of building back this #Meerak316 energy, and just flat out have been raising more “HELL” that you ever can imagine with this 2nd & 3rd Quarter of 2025 with my brand. I have a lot on deck, and just overall can’t wait for the 4th Quarter to really be a household name in the Entertainment & Media Industry.

Also, just overall in this phase of my life and BRAND, where I truly understand my NO & YES, as well as my NEEDS & WANTS. For sure it’s MY TIME, and for those I’ve assisted over the years, and just flat out been effective with that…just know this is the REEMO MEERAK ERA!!!!

#ReemoApproved

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey there #MyCreatives, and New one’s…..

I am a Media Figure, Blogger, and Actor from Harlem, NYC named; Kareem “Reemo Meerak” Tyson. I’ve been involved with the entertainment business since 2006, as well as apart of the media industry since 2012. The Reemo Meerak Brand is an entertainment company that specializes in branding, acting, media coverage, and content consulting. About two decades in (April 2nd, 2026 will make 20’years) have been the multi-hyphenated figure who’s experienced a lot in industry, and just overall met some kick-ass people, and creatives.

The cool thing about me, I’m a dweeb and a half. Hence why I call myself; “The Social Dweeb of Hip Hop”. I’m a huge fan of Funko Pops, Sports, and Wrestling. Also, really dig technology (Well Duh, Kareem you graduated with your Bachelor’s in Computer Science at Monroe College). Also, I’m really interested in helping out the youth as best I can. I’ve been involved with being an educator for New York City Department of Education for 13 years. Overall, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made as an adult in my life. Each of the students I’ve embraced have really added on a layer of self awareness, and just outright happiness I was missing for a while. My ode to the youth is uncanny.

Currently, I’m on two major projects that I can’t speak on due to contractual arrangements, and just flat out The C.U.T.S. Podcast, as well as where I co-host with the sports podcast called “He’s With Us” are just ripping the digital content space. Also, with Digiwaxx.com and its “New Music Wednesdays” live taping at The Penthouse, NYC.

Right now, it’s just freaking amazing to be; REEMO MEERAK!!!!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
I must say my mentor; Angelo “Doc” Velasquez saw something in me back in 2005, and truly realized I shouldn’t be perusing playing basketball overseas, but getting involved with the entertainment business. Now, 20 years later I’m involved with the business more than ever.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Shidddddddddd, multiple times.

First time was almost giving up my own life with multiple suicidal attempts because I built this anxiety up thinking about what others were going to think of me not succeeding as an Actor. From 2006 until 2010 (I want to say about February or March) ohhhhh I was on a kickass hot streak as a Background/“One-Line” Actor. I was in Law & Order: SVU, Nurse Jackie, Elementary, and a slew of TV Shows, and Movies. The major one was being in the flash mob scene for Justin Timberlake & Mika Kunis called “Friends With Benefits”. When I entered the industry I was “happy-go-lucky” and truly not understanding the business. When they stopped using me for a while I started panicking, and had I understood the business I would’ve been fine. Hence, today I don’t stress out about things because I have huge understanding of the entertainment and media business.

***VERY IMPORTANT: Uunderstand and study the business before entering!!!!***

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, because I don’t change of whom I am. If was to change like that then it would damage the consistency. The one caveat that people describe with me is my PASSION for what I do, it’s 100% or it’s just flat out nothing. I truly love what I do as a Multi-Hypenated Entertainer, and would never change my journey within it at all.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
Like world, this man truly didn’t give up on his dreams. For any creative or entrepreneur coming into this, please to the lord heavens DO NOT GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS!!!!!

Plan accordingly, and follow through to the best of your abilities.
