An Inspired Chat with LASAUNIA THOMPSON of DC &Surrounding Area

We’re looking forward to introducing you to LASAUNIA THOMPSON. Check out our conversation below.

LASAUNIA, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: When was the last time you felt true joy?
At this very moment, in this very season. Back in April, I made the executive decision to quit my job, and by May, I decided to sell my house and move to an entirely new state. It was a bold move, but by far the best decision I’ve made in a very long time. The joy I experience daily now is rooted in peace, freedom, and alignment. I wake up each day feeling grateful for the space I’ve created—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. This chapter of my life is all about living intentionally and embracing the abundance that comes when you choose yourself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Lasaunia “So” Thompson, founder of SoBeIt, LLC, an organization dedicated to helping women move from where they’ve been to where they aspire to be. Through retreats, workshops, and personal development experiences, I create spaces for women to heal, grow, and rediscover their power.

What makes SoBeIt unique is its heart-centered approach—everything I do is rooted in love, faith, gratitude, grace, kindness, and respect. I believe transformation begins when women are seen, heard, and valued, and my personal journey of resilience fuels the work I do.

Recently, I hosted SoBeIt’s 4th Annual Women’s Retreat in Scottsdale, Arizona, which was a huge success and a beautiful celebration of sisterhood and self-discovery. I also contributed to the anthology Turning My Pain Into Purpose: Volume 2, sharing my story of faith and transformation.

In addition, I created So’s Tiny Tidbits Daily Affirmation Cards, 32 cards designed to uplift and inspire daily, offering simple reminders to pause, reflect, and embrace positivity. Every project I take on reflects my mission: to inspire women to rise, evolve, and live boldly in their purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
I believe what breaks the bonds between people often comes down to trust and communication. When promises are broken, honesty is lacking, or conversations are avoided, distance starts to grow. Resentment and unresolved conflicts can quietly chip away at a connection, and neglect—failing to show care, appreciation, or presence—can leave relationships feeling fragile. Self-centeredness and a lack of empathy also create walls between people, making it hard to feel truly understood or supported.

On the other hand, bonds are restored through honesty, forgiveness, and empathy. Open, heartfelt communication and truly listening to one another rebuilds trust. Letting go of resentment and showing grace allows relationships to heal. Showing up consistently, valuing one another, and investing time together strengthens connection, as does respecting boundaries and creating shared experiences. When we nurture relationships with love, understanding, and intentionality, bonds that may have been broken can become stronger than ever.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wounds of my life began as physical ones. For years, I lived with a rare disease called Pyoderma Gangrenosum (PG). The pain was relentless—both physically and emotionally. My body carried open wounds that refused to heal, and in many ways, those external scars mirrored the internal ones I didn’t yet have words for. Living with PG forced me to confront not just the physical pain, but the emotional and spiritual wounds that came with it—feelings of isolation, frustration, and questioning why me?

But in that struggle, I found my greatest source of strength. Healing didn’t happen overnight. It came through faith, surrender, and choosing to see purpose in my pain. I began to understand that my wounds—both seen and unseen—were shaping me, not breaking me. Over time, I learned to nurture myself with grace, patience, and self-compassion.

Through my journey of healing, I’ve discovered peace, purpose, and a deeper connection with God. My scars tell a story now—not of suffering, but of survival, resilience, and transformation.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
That’s a really good question. Yes, the public version of me is absolutely the real me. What you see is who I truly am. Life has taught me the importance of living in my truth, showing up fully, and doing so unapologetically.

I’ve learned to embrace every part of who I am—the polished and the imperfect—and to value what I bring to every space I enter. There’s no need to pretend or be anyone other than myself. Authenticity is my freedom, and it’s also my power.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story people tell about me when I’m gone is that I was love—that my presence brought peace wherever I went. I want to be remembered as someone who created meaningful experiences and safe spaces for others to grow, heal, and simply be themselves.

I hope people say that I was genuine and authentic, that I lived with intention, and that my kindness and compassion left a lasting imprint. More than anything, I want my life to reflect love in action—a life that inspired others to walk boldly in their truth and live with grace, gratitude, and purpose.
