An Inspired Chat with Malachi D Scott of Los Angeles

Malachi D Scott shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Malachi, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’m most proud of my hidden projects that’s have been developing slowly. A lot of people don’t know about them and some don’t even know what I do. When my projects finally hit then people will be surprised and some won’t even know it’s me.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello, my name is Malachi Scott. I’m an upcoming sports agent, actor, former athlete, model and entrepreneur. After tearing my MCL in basketball I had to look to other ideas to pick myself up off my feet. Even though it was hard leaving the sport that I love, I’m blessed to be successful in other things while still being able to stay connected to sports. I’m currently working with some players that are still in college and have very bright futures. I’m also still in the acting industry and building some other business and projects that I can’t really announce right now.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I feel like my relationship with God has shaped my whole life. Every-time I’m having a hard time or bad day, I can always look to him to pick me up and show me a way to happiness. I’ve been getting injured since I was in the 11th grade so even with that, he’s been keeping me moving until I can finally say “I did it.” None of this in my life would be possible if he wasn’t by my side.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I feel like the way I grew up was very different than a lot of people. Of course, everybody had to struggle somewhat, but you know by my last interview and others know as well that it was very different. Suffering taught me how to be strong in any situation and keep moving. I feel that if everything went good in my childhood, I wouldn’t know how to deal with the struggles I have now. Everything happens for a reason but God will never give you something that you can’t handle. Once you learn to strive in struggle then you can beat anything.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
I believe in just being genuine. Your mindset and character can take you a long way. I’d take a genuine person that’s broke over a rich person that’s ignorant. No matter how many people that have done me wrong, l’ll never change who I am. The way I am is what makes me different and I feel that it’s hard to find people like that nowadays.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
For a while, I used to wonder why I haven’t been as successful as many people my age. I always looked at myself to be an NBA or NFL player by 18, but due to injuries it didn’t happen and for some time I was depressed. I had to realize that it just wasn’t my path and look to what I’ve always been good at. Many look at me as an older brother and mentor which is why they trust me in the crafts that I do. I’ve realized I was born to be a disciple of God and to help many people until my time comes. I’ve never done what people have told me to do which is why people never expect the things I speak about until it happens.
