An Inspired Chat with Margo of Los Angeles

Margo shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Margo, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Reading a great book (even better if done while simultaneously walking in the hills above my home)! I just finished a FANTASTIC book about Cleopatra written by Stacy Schiff. I love reading about ancient history, cultural myths and stories, field notes, archeology, personal notes and ideas, and thought-provoking philosophies…
There is a quote I like by Terry Tempest Williams that says “She is reading Zen, Krishnamurti, and Jung, asking herself questions she has never had the courage to explore. Suddenly, the shackles which have bound her are beginning to snap, as personal revelation replaces orthodoxy”.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Margo, I am the creator and founder of MEDUZZA OLIO BOTANICO. MEDUZZA is a tightly curated collection of botanical skincare formulas and tools, strongly driven by a desire to capture the essence of the Mediterranean, and carry on the naturally-efficacious beauty treatments and wellness rituals of the culture.

I absolutely love studying and working with nutritive botanicals with long and incredibly rich histories.

I am currently working on an artisanal soap!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
Playing by the rules. My mother raised me well and honestly and as a result I’ve been a person who (outwardly) plays by the rules. Internally however, I’ve evolved differently. In order to continue my mission of living and creating an authentic life, rules are being replaced by intuition and integrity.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That the two are entwined with one another. That I would not know the feeling of true success without having experienced pain. “Did you ever say yes to a pleasure? Oh my friends, then you also said yes to all pain”.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That “more is more”.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
She envisioned the life she wanted to live and by staying true, she built it and lived it.

Also that one can succeed at both, living out their passion/purpose while contributing to the good of the world.
