An Inspired Chat with Martha Schreiner of Manhattan

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Martha Schreiner. Check out our conversation below.

Martha , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Who are you learning from right now?
This questions are so deep! 🙂 I love this, I got to share that now I have such an amazing friend who I’m learning from. His name is Daniel Chacon, He lost a leg in an accident 8 years ago and couldn’t get a prostetic and He literally walks through life on his crutches with the biggest smile. At the moment he’s training to run a marathon! (Somedays I go train with him) and He’s teaching me about Kabbalah and spirituality!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Martha Schreiner – a Mexican ray of light with a German last name. I’m a comedy actress, a TV Host and MC, (give me a mic and I’ll light up the room). I also have experience as a Keynote, UGC Manager and Stand up. I created my own spanglish tv-show, a space to laugh, love and talk about EVERYTHING that happens in vibrant NYC; dating, latin culture, fashion and sex life. I have experience in reality TV and scprted productions including appearances on THE DREW BARRYMORE SHOW and Orange is the New Black. I also covered red carpets during New York Fashion Week.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
I used to think I had to be skinny, look a certain way, or get validation from others to deserve my dreams. Now I know the only thing you really need is mindset. Also… I used to belive in Santa Claus, but, well…

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I used to be the woman who never allowed herself to cry, who thought being strong meant never showing pain. I loved being seeing as powerful, unbreakable, always tehre for others. But now, I’m learning the real strenght lives in vulnerability- in letting myself feel, especially through heartbreakes that hit like hurricanes. Now I cry in front of everyone and it’s okay.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Food for sure! and bringing people together, make them laugh, dance, and feel alive. I feel it’s my mission in life to make others feel alive. My best friend said:
“Es una latina loca, la mejor que puedes tener en tu vida”

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
SI! I’m 100% doing what I was born to do. I’m a performer by nature, I love to entertain, create community and bring joy and laughther to other people, even when people tell me to change careers or choose a more “stable” path, I know in my heart that this is my calling. sharing my light, my humor and my creativity it’s my purpose and I’m proud to be doing exactly that.
