We recently had the chance to connect with Mary Callozzo and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mary, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I think the most misunderstood part of running a holistic business focused on spiritual health is the belief that this is a niche thing to do. While healing childhood trauma and guiding people along their path of self-discovery is a specialized role, it should not be thought of independent from the whole picture of health. Spiritual wellness is directly tied to emotional and physical wellness. When these areas are thought to be separate from each other the mind begins to pick and choose which area of healing is right for them, often leaving the spiritual at church and using the rest to define their picture of health.
Spiritual wellness is about what we believe, and that can take a toll in all areas of our lives due to the proven power of thought. What we believe about God, the world, and how we self-talk is often a result of how we were raised and any invisible wounds we may still carry from childhood or past relationships.
Addressing subconscious belief systems is the first, and most impactful, step in creating wellness in all areas of your life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Mary Callozzo, and I founded Earth & Star Spiritual Wellness Center in 2022 with the goal of guiding the awareness that “you” are not your body, but the “you” that you think you are is actually spirit. With this realization, people can easily overcome thoughts and emotions that keep them in spaces of fear, confusion, self-doubt, and anxiety. Through Earth & Star, I offer spiritual teachings that can be applied into any religious practice, healing sessions based on trauma regression hypnotherapy and Shamanic clearing techniques, and host wellness retreats to submerge people in love and support, often for the first time in their lives.
I come from a medical background, and combining physical health with intuitive gifts drives my desire to see others heal from the things that hold them back emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I have a passion for life, and most people aren’t truly living it! Think of the things people can accomplish when they know how brave and talented they are. When a person is able to awaken their inner confidence and let go of the things they use as a crutch, the impact they can have on the world expands exponentially.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
As a child I was plagued with this reoccurring dream of being powerless and unheard. In the dream, there was always something floating in front of me, a feather or piece of paper, and no matter how many times I would tell it to stop it never would. My dream time felt eerie and I was often frustrated when I awoke because I was never able to take control of the situation in my subconscious…until I began my healing work as an adult. I dove deep into Shamanic practices, regression therapy, and even expressive modalities such as Bardic training through Druidry. One night, after many tears and wading through old heavy emotions, the dream came once more. A feeling of creeping fear came over my whole body and the paper began to float again, but this time when I raised my hand and said, “Stop!” the paper fell. This was my sign that I had finally come into my personal power through the release of inner blockages, and I never had the dream again. Talk about a feeling of confidence and freedom!
When did you last change your mind about something important?
I think changing your mind IS important. All beliefs eventually become limiting, and everything in life is meant to flow and expand, change and grow. Even destiny.
When I originally founded Earth & Star, my vision was to create a physical space for the teachings, healings, and retreats to be held. The deeper I got into the planning process the more limited I felt in the calling. My calling was the teachings and the feelings people would be inspired by to awaken their inner worth and power, my calling was not a building made of brick. At that time I thought I had to create a retreat center in order to create retreats, so I put together a board for planning and grant writing, searched for the perfect plot of land in a convenient area, and hired architects and lawyers who could all help this dream come together. The deeper I got into this process the more I realized that nobody could create the center I was looking for, because it was a FEELING that I was trying to generate for people, not a place. So I let it all fall, and I shifted into virtual teachings and healings and mobile retreats where I have the honor of supporting other retreat centers that already exist!
Allowing myself to change my mind, and therefore growing at a much more rapid rate than I otherwise would have been able to, has been a freeing journey, and the people I’ve had the privilege to meet along the way in different areas of the world has been life changing!
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
While my personal calling is to generate inspiration for life in spaces where people aren’t truly living in a conscious way, this is all done through the principle of love. Love is the one true thing in this life, and it’s the only vibration that heals, frees, and brings peace. On this journey of life, I will never stop committing myself to love. There are times we all miss it, fall short of it, or pretend we don’t have it, but all fear, pain, and suffering is an illusion of lack of love. The illusion is that we, as souls, could ever experience anything outside of love. I strive to stay focused on love in all of my ups and downs, taking time to refocus and realign myself with the only law or belief that truly matters-love!
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
When I first began the actual business of wellness, going public and offering services to others, the direction came from a higher source. It never felt like something that was a choice, just an inner compulsion and a knowing of what needed to be done. It was like a push from the inside that wouldn’t quit. As the years went on and I realized that I had built everything that I had been guided to build, the guidance began to change. This seemed harder than the first time because the spiritual messages left more room for free will choice. It was time to not just blindly follow, but to step into the freedom of purpose.
The core vision of what I do comes from a “me” that isn’t here on Earth, but the structure of the company and how I accomplish that vision is something that I now get to create. Creation is beautiful, and as we learn how to trust in our higher power it is something that should be done hand in hand. I trust the mission that I’ve been given, that I have the tools that make me capable of accomplishing that mission, and that the support I need along the way will come as it does, and all of the little details in between are mine to be inspired by. Life is a beautiful work of art, and we get to splash the vivid colors across the page!
