An Inspired Chat with Michael Balko of Erie, Pennsylvania

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Michael Balko. Check out our conversation below.

Michael, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I’m a director of Stadium Operations for a Double-A baseball team, so currently working 16 hour days and blessed to be in the position I am. I wouldn’t be able to do any of it without the love and support of my beautiful wife, Burgundee though

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I work in sports, which is super hard to do, and I like to give people a look at what it takes to make the fan experience incredible!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My wife, without a doubt. She always sees the best in me, even when I don’t see it in myself. Having her in my corner gives me a daily reminder that I have everything I’ll ever need in this world.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
That you have to want it more than everyone else.

You have to want life more than anything, and you absolutely need to celebrate small wins.

Life is not always going to be easy, but if you celebrate the small wins, even your darkest moments don’t feel so bad.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I can proudly say that I am myself all the time. I will not lie and say that everyone enjoys that, but I am and always will be and stay true to myself and my values.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people will talk about how loving of a husband and father I am.

Family time in my line of work is scarce, so making the most out of it is essential.

There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for my family and I want to make sure that is never in question.
