We recently had the chance to connect with Mila Molinari and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mila, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I just recently spent a few days recording a really fun video shoot with actress/singer Viola Odette Harlow and director Manny Liotta to promote our new film musical Satyrica that will be premiere on September 14 at Cinelounge in Hollywood.
In one of the scenes they made me crash into a construction site and run inside of a parked tractor to get the shoot and after we ran away. No spoilers yet. Just wait until the promo is out. We had so many laughs as we always do when we work together!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a multifaceted artist. I act, dance, sing, write, choreograph, teach, model, produce but I’m best known worldwide as a showgirl and burlesque performer with a signature Old Hollywood aura. My work is dedicated to creating timeless performances that honor this Golden Age, preserving its legacy while reimagining its magic for the modern stage.
I’m based in Los Angeles but I was born and raised in Brazil by a circus family. My father is an entertainer (clown/magician) so I was born into showbiz!
I just got back from my European Tour and straight back into work! I have plenty new shoots in the works and starting now rehearsals for mine and my husbands (Pete Molinari) production “The Nitty Gritty Club” which is our 60s inspired regular event at Petit Ermitage hotel in the heart of West Hollywood which is on September 13 featuring Pete Molinari’s band, Vinyl DJ Vanessa Burgundy and myself.
Next on September 14 like I mentioned, will be the premiere of the film I co-star and choreographed Satyrica.
I have also something very exciting in the works but I can’t tell you yet 😉
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Completely free, confident, creative, and fearless. Being born into a supportive showbiz family, I was always encouraged in everything I did. But as I became independent and started doing things on my own, away from my family and country, I encountered a lot of rejection and competitiveness from the outside world. Yet those experiences have helped me build character and strength, and I’m grateful for them — they continue to shape and challenge me.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t be scared or anxious, because everything you dream from your heart will come true.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
It’s definitely a real part of me, but not all of me. I keep my public persona a little more fantastical which is mostly tied to my work. I share my personal life only with close friends and family, not because I want to hide it from the world, but because otherwise I’d spend far too much extra time creating all kinds of content. I’d rather focus on one thing. A huge part of my life outside showbiz is my spiritual practice, which I’ll probably share with the world when the time feels right.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
A soul that seeks simple joys, laughter with friends, the warmth of love, and the feeling of being loved in return.
