We’re looking forward to introducing you to Mindy Stamulis. Check out our conversation below.
Mindy, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The one gift I give myself each day is the permission to start slow and quiet. I don’t use an alarm unless absolutely necessary, and I tend to wake up around the same time naturally. Since I rarely have full days off, I’ve chosen to begin each day gently—it’s something I intentionally give to myself.
Each morning, I make a stovetop espresso and sit outside as I wake up. Sometimes that time is spent replying to messages, reading articles, or simply listening to the sounds of nature. By the time 90 minutes has passed, I’m either geared up to work or to work out—whichever is scheduled first.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My diverse background has naturally led me to where I am today. I come from a 30-year career in cosmetology, during which I owned two salons with a strong emphasis on editorial work.
Over the past seven years, I’ve taken a deep dive into the study of medical phytotherapy. After earning a PhD-level certification, HeadPlant was born—at the unique intersection of beauty and wellness. In fact, the brand’s development not only satisfied medical criteria but also served as the focus of my thesis.
Holistic health and wellness have always been integral to my life. Fitness, nutrition, and self-care have long coexisted alongside my work in the beauty industry. After serving my community for so many years, I began to see a growing need in the collective: scalp health was becoming a widespread concern, largely due to synthetic ingredients in common products.
My first focus became clear—to create a natural, effective solution to treat and nourish both hair and scalp. Through intentional formulation, we developed a product that not only remedied scalp issues but also supported overall body ecology through deep study and plant power.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I’ve always worked hard. I’d hold down a job while apprenticing, run a business by day, then clock out and show up at a new gig by night. My “day job” often led straight into study sessions. I’d go from one salon to another—or even to a lab.
From hair to HeadPlant, I’ve always hustled to build traction and create success. That hustle often meant working 80-hour weeks and rarely taking a full day off. But the truth is, that pace isn’t sustainable.
In this new chapter, I’m learning to claim at least one full day off each week—to rest, reset, and protect my energy. I’m also focused on building a solid, dependable team I can lean on.
Because the art of rest? That’s a boss move.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
So often, I get caught in my own head. I overthink, second-guess myself, and worry about what others might think—how they’ll feel, how they might criticize. I can spiral into obsessing over the smallest details, questioning even the most minor decisions.
But the truth is: I’m deeply intuitive. I’m forward-thinking. I have vision.
I’m learning to trust myself again—to believe in the wisdom I’ve always carried. Looking back, I see now that I should have trusted my instincts all along. It’s rarely about making a “wrong” decision—it’s about getting stuck in indecision.
Trust yourself. You’ve always had it in you.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
The relationships in my life have real tenure. These are my hand-picked family—the people I keep closest to my heart because they know me best. After so many years together, I deeply value their discernment.
Whether it’s about relationships, work, or big dreams, they offer insight grounded in love and perspective. When this small, trusted group speaks, I listen. They’ve witnessed every version of me, and their voices carry weight for a reason.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
What remains is relationship. My deepest joy and greatest value lie in connection— with my family, my person, nature, spirit, and self. I treasure the energetic exchange between myself and the world around me. I dare say I seek more of it; it might be all I’ve ever truly wanted, even in its simplest forms.
It all translates to presence. And when you’re truly present, there’s nothing surface-level about it. In presence, there is joy, depth, discovery—sometimes even healing. To sit quietly with my person, to watch a forest breathe, to laugh with friends, to pause in pure appreciation—these are the moments where I soften. That is what remains.
