An Inspired Chat with Natalie Morgan of South Jersey

Natalie Morgan shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Natalie, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
When I first wake up I make myself a hot tea and journal for about twenty minutes. I will make my breakfast (2 pieces of turkey bacon, sauted spinach, pistachios, yams, and half an apples) and get ready to go run. I then go do my morning run of 5-5.5 miles.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Natalie Morgan, retired professional Muay Thai fighter. I’m now a Environmental Geologist working and living in south New Jersey in environmental consulting. Although I am retired, I will never not be an athlete. I still train and exercise 5 days a week. I’m also passionate about the environment! That’s how I landed in this career field. It’s a perfect fit for me. I taught Muay Thai privately and in group settings for 15 years. I am taking a break from teaching but plan to get back to that one day. My focus right now is my geology career.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
My father taught me the most about work. He worked on the CSX Railroad growing up and always had side jobs doing carpentry work. He was always working. Always busy. He put a lot of pride into his work and made sure the provide quality product.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Losses always stand out more than wins. You will deconstruct everything that happened in order to see how you could have done better. Typically, when I make a mistake I make note not to ever make that same mistake twice. I figured out what I need to do in order to ensure success the second time around. “Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from bad decisions” – Mark Twain

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Most certainly. I am what I am and never pretend to be anything that I’m not. Everyone that knows me will tell you that. I’m unapologetically me. I’m sure people that know me, know me on a much deeper level but the real me is the same in the public eye.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I don’t know what I would stop doing but I know what I would start doing. I’d travel to every place I’d every wanted to go. I do everything that scares and/or excites me. I’d train Muay Thai more regularly again. I probably would stop letting things annoy me so much and enjoy them even though they drive me crazy. Embrace the things I don’t like more. I’d spend more time with those people I love.
