Nick Wucher & Jacob Wucher shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Nick & Jacob, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Who are you learning from right now?
Nick: My Brother(Jacob), learning not to rush into certain projects/situations and take a step back to analyze if it is worth doing at the moment or save it for down the line. He has helped me become more organized with the business as well.
Jacob: My brother(Nick), learning the importance of taking action on what you want even if you don’t know how to do it. You’ll find a way, it might not be perfect but through the work/journey you’ll figure it out. Something is better than nothing.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Nick: I am the Founder & Creative Director of YIFNO
Jacob: I am the Head of Design & Operations
YIFNO is a Fashion Brand based out of NYC & Miami. We started in 2019 and threw our first pop up on my(Nick) college balcony at FSU. We have now thrown pops ups in Miami, NYC, and London. Kind of crazy to see how the brand has grown with our audience, from simple t shirts to full luxury lines, all stemming from an acronym that stands for “Yo it’s f*cking nice out”. We are firm believers in the power of collaboration and continue to keep our mischievous nature in marketing. Staying authentic and continuing to push ourselves creatively no matter the obstacle will be the reason we continue to grow.
The fashion, streetwear, and clothing landscape is extremely saturated, a lot of companies are here today and gone tomorrow, some for cash grabs and others that can’t stand the test of time. No disrespect to anyone’s motives but that just isn’t us, we’re going on year 7 soon and we plan on becoming a household name, it’s not about if, it’s about when.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Nick: Believing I was going to win 4 Heisman trophies and 10 super bowls, I think that ship might’ve sailed.
Jacob: Believing I was going to become a pro skater but I went to a skate park and ate cement off a ramp
Bonus: We would never smoke cigs but a drunk one doesn’t count
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Nick: “This too shall pass.” You might be going through the worst time in your life, just know it’s temporary. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to get through it, because at the end of the day the only person that can save you is you.
Jacob: Trials & Tribulations breed success. Don’t be afraid to start over, because that is how you build something better and stronger.
You cant spell BALL without a couple L’s
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
Nick & Jacob: That we are all competing with each other, especially at this level we should all be bringing people up. Don’t let your ego get in the way of working with people on the same come up as you.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When have you had to bet the company?
Nick: We’ve bet the company on every single drop. Our first NYC pop up in 2022 I remember maxing out all my cc’s, taking out of my retirement from my day job and saying to myself “if we break even it’s a success” thank God we did more than just break even lol
Jacob: Literally every release the stakes keep getting higher, not as nerve racking when you’re dropping a couple hundred vs. $20k+ collections.
