An Inspired Chat with Nixlot Dameus of Fishtown

We recently had the chance to connect with Nixlot Dameus and have shared our conversation below.

Nixlot , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: When was the last time you felt true joy?
I felt true joy recently when I found out who my biological father is.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Nixlot Dameus, and I’m the founder of Caribbean Muscles, a fitness brand dedicated to helping people transform not just their bodies, but their lifestyles. I come from a background in both fitness and service working in security, leadership, and even ministry—which shaped the way I approach training and coaching today.

What makes Caribbean Muscles unique is that it’s not just about workouts and meal plans it’s about building discipline, confidence, and faith alongside physical results. I use my personal journey, going from setbacks to growth, to show my clients that fitness is a lifestyle that spills over into every area of life.

Right now, I’m working on expanding my online coaching programs, growing my community through social media, and continuing to share real, relatable content that motivates people to take action for their health. My ultimate goal is to inspire others to push past rejection, embrace who they are, and realize that they are capable of more than they think.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful is when I was 10 years old and I found a way to provide for my mom by going out Sunday evenings to go through peoples trash and find clothes they threw out and take them back to my mother.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, I almost gave up very recently on everything including life however I was giving a new purpose to life when found out I have a baby on the way and it helped me to connect everything together on why I had to go through the things I went through and creating for my son a life that he will love.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely, I stand by a principle of not having a gimmick but instead myself, real, vulnerable, strong and an overcomer

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What are you doing today that won’t pay off for 7–10 years?
The discipline that I am applying today as a business man, an athlete and soon to be new father is what I am doing today that I know will pay off eventually and no overnight, the key is consistency and building a business that will bring value for others who shares the same story of mental health and help transform men to becoming stronger mentally, physically and spiritually.
