An Inspired Chat with Piper Bridwell of Okc

Piper Bridwell shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Piper, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I definitely had a moment recently that made me laugh and feel proud! About 6 weeks ago, I randomly applied for an art show that had been a 10 year dream. This is the kind of show that artists aspire to get into, but the majority don’t apply because it seems daunting! But on a whim, I decided to apply. I applied and immediately prayed! Lord, if this is your plan, will you let me get in? No longer than 1 week later, I received a text saying “congratulations! You’ve been accepted into Miami Red Dot show at Art Basel 2025 with SAB gallery!!!”
I started laughing and crying because God ALWAYS looks out for the desires of my heart!!! I’m currently finishing the work for the show and am proud of the work that’s going!! The collection is titled, “Heaven Scapes”.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a self taught abstract artist from OKC. My work is bold, highly textured and always has a sense of light within the blending. The idea of being a light in this dark world has always resonated with me. Be different, be positive, show love to everyone. That’s what my work conveys. My heart is focused on gratitude while I’m creating and I pray that’s what viewers receive when looking at the work.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Deep question. Sin. Sin breaks the bond between people. Sin can be selfishness, judgment, jealousy, comparison, envy, lust, the list goes on and on. The one who restores relationships is the same one who died for these exact sins. So even tho we choose to be selfish, be jealous, ect. We can still be restored and forgive each other because of what Jesus did for us! His mercy’s are new every morning!! Sin breaks bonds, forgiveness restores.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I was once bullied on line when I was first becoming a painter. Accused of copying another artist because I had used a “similar”, (not the same) technique. They sent the trolls to call me names, and blast negative comments all over my feed.
After a time of bawling to my husband because I felt so attacked, and actually super confident in the work, before the attacks, I decided I needed to pray for these ladies. I had always heard pray for your enemies, but had never actually had any..
Once I began praying for these ladies hearts, and that they could one day experience the Joy that I had, my hurt and anxiety began to soften. It taught me way more than any success could ever teach me. I felt free, and actually felt love for these women who had said the most cruel things about me. I continued using that technique and it is now what my work is most recognized for!

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
100% yes. I don’t back down from sharing who I am and my beliefs from anyone. In fact, I know God put this desire to create in my heart TO share with the public. I’ve made some absolutely incredible friendships through my social media and genuine friendships don’t come about by being different than who you really are!

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people tell of my joy! My joy in all that the Lord has done for me. I think having a career that I love elevates the joy in my life. Has my life always been easy? In some ways yes, and in others no. Most don’t know, but I have a child who has struggled for 7 years with severe anxiety and depression. Panic attacks are something I’ve had to help her through (at times, multiple in a week) and it’s the hardest thing to witness as a parent. But joy will come in the morning! Keeping my mind and heart focused on all the good I’ve received gets me through those difficult moments.
