An Inspired Chat with Dr. Mays

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dr Mays. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Rana, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is seeing medical, cosmetic, and surgical patients, spending time with my family, speaking at dermatology conferences, and helping other practices improve their efficiency and patient access. I love that my days combine hands-on patient care with education, collaboration, and finding ways to make dermatology better for everyone.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a dual-board-certified in Dermatology and Internal Medicine, with expertise in medical, complex and autoimmune disease, surgical dermatology, and hair loss/alopecia. I founded Mays Dermatology with a progressive direct-care model designed to foster strong physician-patient relationships and provide upscale, thorough care with an emphasis on time and quality. My patients receive accessible, VIP-level full-spectrum care in medical, cosmetic, surgical, and hair loss dermatology, and every visit and procedure is performed by me personally. I believe the expertise and education of a Board-Certified Dermatologist make a crucial difference in accurately diagnosing and treating conditions of the skin, hair, and nails. I also work to improve access to true expert dermatologists through same-day fit-ins, no waits, streamlined scheduling, and personalized, in-depth visits.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Before I could see my own potential, it was my parents who saw me clearly. They believed in me, encouraged my curiosity, and pushed me to pursue excellence in everything I did. Their unwavering support and guidance gave me the confidence to follow my passion for medicine and ultimately build the career I have today.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self: don’t give up, and be kind to yourself. Trust that every challenge is shaping you, every setback is teaching you, and that your hard work and passion will carry you forward. Be patient, have faith in your journey, and remember that self-compassion is just as important as determination.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
What my closest friends would say that matters to me is making a meaningful impact, whether it’s in the lives of my patients, the success of my team, or the well-being of my family. They’d also say I value integrity, kindness, and continuous growth, and that I care deeply about connecting with people genuinely and thoughtfully.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
I don’t think I’d have any regrets because I try to live intentionally and embrace every opportunity that comes my way. I focus on giving my best, in my career, in my relationships, and in life so that I can move forward without looking back. For me, it’s about taking chances, learning from every experience, and trusting that each step shapes the person I’m meant to be.
