Rashia McCullum shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Rashia, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me is definitely a balancing act—but it’s my kind of beautiful chaos! I start my mornings early, getting grounded with a little quiet time before the rest of the world wakes up. Then it’s off to my full-time job where I oversee operations (and make sure the mailroom runs smoother than a fresh wax!).
After work, I switch gears and step into my passion—ShayBayBee Spa. Whether I’m prepping for clients, filming faceless TikTok product reviews, or testing a new facial treatment, that’s where my creativity flows. I’m also a wife, a mama, and the go-to for my family, so there’s never a dull moment. Somewhere in between, I sneak in content planning, laughter, skincare orders, and maybe a matcha if I’m lucky!
It’s a lot—but every part of it fills me in different ways. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Rashay Nicole McCullum—a licensed esthetician, Scorpio to the core, and the proud owner of ShayBayBee Spa in Oklahoma City. ShayBayBee is more than just a spa—it’s a cozy, healing space where beauty meets wellness. From custom facials and V-steams to skincare that actually works, I’ve created a vibe that’s both luxury and down-to-earth.
What makes ShayBayBee special is the intention behind everything we do. I blend modern esthetics with old-world healing practices, especially through our Maya-inspired yoni steams that support women’s cycles, postpartum care, and overall feminine wellness. And now, I’m stepping into the digital world with faceless product reviews filmed right inside my spa—sharing honest, spa-tested gems for glowing skin and self-care routines.
As a full-time working wife, mother, and skincare lover, I know what it means to pour into others while trying to refill your own cup. That’s the heart behind my brand—creating a space where women can press pause, reset, and leave feeling like their best self.
Right now, I’m focused on expanding ShayBayBee with digital content, exclusive product lines, and new ways to connect beauty, business, and balance. Stay tuned—we’re just getting started!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that constantly felt the need to prove myself—that version has served its purpose and it’s time to let her go. For years, I poured myself into everything and everyone, always feeling like I had to earn my worth by doing more, being more, showing up perfectly. But now, I’m learning that peace, presence, and purpose are enough.
I no longer feel the pressure to overextend or explain myself to be validated. I’ve built a brand, a family, and a life I’m proud of, and I deserve to move through the world with confidence—not guilt or urgency. That version of me helped me get here, but now I’m making space for more flow, joy, and trust in the process. It’s a beautiful release.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
The fear of failure has probably held me back the most. For a long time, I was afraid to fully step into my purpose because I didn’t want to get it wrong—or worse, be judged for trying. I would second-guess myself, delay launching ideas, or downplay my gifts just to stay “safe.” But deep down, I knew I wasn’t created to play small.
What I’ve learned is that failure isn’t the end—it’s just feedback. Every setback has taught me how to pivot, grow, and rise stronger. And honestly, once I faced that fear, I realized the real risk was in not trying at all. Now I remind myself: if it’s on your heart, it’s there for a reason. Go for it scared.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
For me, the difference between a fad and a foundational shift comes down to intention and impact. Fads usually come with hype, quick promises, and short-lived excitement—but foundational shifts feel deeper. They align with values, solve real problems, and stand the test of time.
As a licensed esthetician and spa owner, I’ve seen trends come and go, especially in skincare and wellness. But when something genuinely improves lives, supports long-term health, or empowers people to care for themselves more intentionally—that’s a shift worth paying attention to. At ShayBayBee, I don’t just chase what’s trending. I ask, “Will this still matter a year from now? Five years from now? Will it help my clients feel seen and supported?” If the answer is yes, then it’s something I build with.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What light inside you have you been dimming?
The light I’ve been dimming is my creative voice and personal power—especially when it comes to fully owning my story, my talents, and the big vision I have for my life and brand. Deep down, I know I’m meant to lead, to inspire, to teach—not just through ShayBayBee, but through my words, my presence, and the life I’ve lived. I have a voice that could heal, guide, and empower others, but I’ve kept it quiet out of fear of being misunderstood, judged, or “too much.”
I’ve spent so much of my life supporting everyone around me, showing up for family, clients, and coworkers—but now I’m realizing that my light is not meant to be hidden. Whether it’s through writing my book, sharing my wisdom online, or expanding my business into new spaces, I’m learning to stop playing it safe. There’s a bold, powerful version of me that’s been waiting patiently—and it’s finally her time.
