Reginald edwards shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Reginald, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
i would hire me because of how multifaceted i am. I’m also a fast learning and I’m a genius when it comes to creative ideas and concepts. I’m also an exceptional leader whose skilled at facilitating events and strategically planning.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
IYo, what’s good? I’m Reggie Kush, an entertainer juggling multiple creative endeavors with my brand BAAAAA under my business, RawGawd ENT. I’m from the north side of St. Louis, but I’ve been based out of New York City for the past 8 years. I’ve been doing comedy for 12 years, battle rapping for 12 years, and writing music since I was 5—so the hustle is real. I cook, I design clothes, write sketches, and I’m even tapping into AI animation. I’m always brainstorming new creative ideas to push my brand to the next level.
I’ve had the honor of performing at the Apollo Theatre, produced the first-ever comedy rap battle for the New York Comedy Festival, and created the first-ever comedy/hip-hop double-disc album. You’ve probably seen me on Sway in the Morning, and my social media is buzzing with over 60k followers across all platforms.
Right now, I’m about to drop a stand-up comedy special based off my first album, my cookbook, and my hip-hop album, all of which are done and ready to go. I’ve stayed consistent, grinding and building this brand from the ground up, and I’m just getting started.
Keep an eye out for what’s coming next from BAAAAA and RawGawd ENT. It’s all about creating something unique, and I’m constantly pushing boundaries to deliver something fresh for my fans.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
A lot of times, distance—whether physical, emotional, or situational—can create a gap that leads people to grow apart. Life moves in different directions, and sometimes, people outgrow each other. That could be due to circumstances, like different priorities, personal growth, or just the natural evolution of life. When two people aren’t on the same wavelength anymore, it’s easy for misunderstandings or resentment to build. Sometimes, it happens when one person gains power or success, and the other feels left behind or even threatened. Entitlement can also play a role; people can feel like they have a right to your time, energy, or loyalty just because of history, which can lead to tension when that’s not reciprocated.
On the flip side, what restores bonds is the ability to acknowledge those changes and communicate openly. Vulnerability plays a huge role—people need to feel like they can express where they are in life without judgment or shame. Shared understanding and respect for each other’s growth, even when it’s hard, can help rebuild those connections. Sometimes, it’s about realizing that growth doesn’t always mean leaving people behind—it can be about evolving together, finding new common ground, and making room for each other’s changes. What ultimately restores a bond is acceptance, empathy, and a willingness to meet each other where you both are, even if that means letting go of expectations or past roles.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You not ugly. lol but I will also tell myself to be more confident for sure.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Their is a higher power above all and everything
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I’d stop overextending myself to others in ways that don’t serve me. A lot of times, we put other people’s needs and expectations ahead of our own, thinking we have all the time in the world to take care of ourselves later. But I’d stop giving so much of my time to things that drain me or people who don’t respect my boundaries. It’s not that I’d stop being there for people—it’s about focusing on myself more so that I can show up better for others. There’s only so much energy I can give, and I’d rather spend that time focusing on my own growth, my passions, and my own well-being, so I’m not running on empty.
I’d also stop overthinking the need to be everything to everyone. Life is too short to be constantly worried about trying to meet everyone’s expectations or seeking approval. I’d focus on the relationships that matter most, the ones that bring genuine joy and allow me to grow. It’s about shifting the balance from focusing on others to focusing on myself—so that I’m not living in a constant state of burnout, and I’m able to give more when I do choose to invest in others.
In the end, I’d stop losing sight of my own priorities. I’ve spent too much time being focused on other people’s needs, and it’s time I focus on making the most of my own life, pursuing what brings me peace, fulfillment, and happiness. After all, when I’m good to myself, I’m better able to be there for the people I care about.
