An Inspired Chat with Ruben Ramirez

We recently had the chance to connect with Ruben Ramirez and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Ruben, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
The most recent moments that both make me laugh and feel proud have been the amount of times I’ve been told to go back to my country. I WAS BORN HERE! But I love my roots in Mexico and love being Mexican. I wear my pride on my chest and that bothers people…good!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Stand Up Comedian / Content Creator
I have this thing where I change up my merch very often because I hit a lot of different stages of my life and career. My supporters enjoy that so they get new pieces of merch every 5 months or so! I’m touring now and meeting new people and it’s wild to me still that I get to travel doing what I love.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
SHY! SHY SHY SHY!!!
I remember struggling speaking to new people. I remember just being so shy to the point my social anxiety would not let me do much. But with the help of 2 people (Steve Dennis – Family Friend & Joe Chianakas – College professor) they helped me break my shell. Now I’m able to meet new people with ease and perform on a stage in front of hundreds of people!

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
How to change your approach to certain situations. I believe when you change your approach to something you’ve failed at before, AND THEN YOU SUCCEED….you just learned a lot more than what winning could’ve taught you. But that’s why people who never gave up are so successful!

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Looking out for others. I never got much help from others in this game but I’m also not owed a thing which is fine! But what I like doing is helping others get opportunities. I don’t think people should measure success on what’s in their pockets, but the amount of people they blessed .

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
That is was easy. I make stuff look easy. The amount of folk that misunderstand what I put in is hilarious. I take risks everyday. I’m a risk taker. But that’s why I’m blessed…I don’t mind losing, it’s apart of the game. I learn a lot when I don’t win, which is valuable in its own.
