We recently had the chance to connect with Ruby Pachall and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ruby , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I like to ease in to my morning — a cup of coffee in hand, my two dogs curled up beside me, and a few quiet minutes snuggled with my husband. I stay unplugged during this time, just soaking in the calm before the day begins.
A little meditation or a setting an intention for the day is always a great start. Then it’s time to get moving: a run through my neighborhood or along the trails by Lake Grapevine clears my head and wakes me up fully.
Back home, a quick shower, a healthy breakfast, and a little time getting ready leave me grounded, energized, and ready for whatever the day holds — simple, calm, and just the way I like it.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
At Gypsy Lilac, our mission is simple: to spread joy through flowers. Specializing in bridal and baby showers, as well as corporate events, we create experiences that bring people together and let creativity bloom.
Our events are hands-on and interactive, offering everything from build-your-own bouquet bars to floral arranging classes and DIY floral packages. Guests leave not only with beautiful floral creations but also with the confidence and skills to recreate them on their own.
I believe that flowers are more than decor — they’re a way to inspire, connect, and celebrate life’s special moments. Every arrangement, every workshop, and every event is designed to make people smile, learn, and experience the joy of creating something beautiful. Flowers really do bring people joy.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One moment that really shaped how I see the world came from a podcast I once listened to. A hypnotherapist was sharing a story about a trip he had taken to India with a shaman. During the trip, they saw two children digging through trash for food. The hypnotherapist turned to the shaman and said how heartbreaking it was to witness such suffering. The shaman’s response has stayed with me ever since. He said something along the lines of, ‘It’s not up to you to judge them—you have no idea the lessons they are learning in this life that you are not.’
That perspective changed me. It reminded me that life is about growth and lessons, and that we all have our own unique journeys. Struggle doesn’t make someone less valuable—it’s simply part of the curriculum of life. We’re all here learning equally important lessons, just in different ways.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
As a child, whenever I felt sad or scared, I instinctively turned to a creative outlet. Creating became my way of making sense of the world and finding calm within it. Whether it was cooking a thoughtful meal for my family, painting, or arranging flowers, these moments of creation were my refuge.
Even now, that same impulse guides me — I still seek out ways to craft, design, and build beauty around me. Creativity has always been, and continues to be, my way of processing emotions, finding joy, and connecting with the world.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Integrity, authenticity, experiences and meaningful connections are what I hold most sacred. I value honesty and staying true to who I am, even when it’s not the easiest path. Relationships that are genuine — whether with friends, family, or clients — matter more than surface-level appearances or fleeting approval.
I’m drawn to experiences that foster growth, laughter, and real connection. Small moments of kindness, curiosity, and shared joy are what make life feel rich. At the heart of it all, living in alignment with my values and nurturing relationships that honor both myself and others is what gives my life purpose and meaning.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
I was raised to focus on the things no one can ever take from you: integrity, a strong moral compass, self-respect, and the quiet satisfaction of doing the right thing even when no one is watching. Helping others was always important to my late mother, who raised me as a single mom.
Looking back, I realize that even without material possessions or external recognition, I would still have a lot — because living by these principles gives life meaning, resilience, and a sense of wealth that can’t be measured.
